The high school basketball season ended with the state championships in Macon last week, and spring sports are going strong throughout the state of Georgia.
There were a number of impressive individual performances from athletes in the Greater Savannah area this week, and readers weighed in and selected the Savannah Morning News Athlete of the Week in an open poll, with no restrictions on the voting.
Dylan Gordon, a catcher on the Islands baseball team, was the winner with 55.92% of the vote. MaryGrace Meyers of the St. Vincent's soccer team was second with 34.58% and Johnson basketball player Josh Quarterman finished third.

Ray Ray Jackson, Savannah Country Day
The senior shattered a school record in the discus that had stood for 22 years with a toss of 168 feet, 9 inches to beat the previous mark of 151-6.
Josh Quarterman, Johnson
The senior guard scored a team-high 20 points for the Atom Smashers in the state championship loss to Sandy Creek.
Abby Walsh, Calvary Day
The junior soccer forward scored a career-high seven goals in a win over Long County.
Dylan Gordon, Islands
The junior catcher went 4-for-7 with a double for the Sharks, who are 9-2 on the season.
Ryan Wallace, Calvary Day
The junior earned a win over Savannah Country Day, throwing 5 2/3 innings and allowing three hits and an unearned run, while going 3-for-4 at the plate in a 7-2 win. He went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in a 14-4 win over SCD on Thursday.
AC Davis, Savannah Country Day
The senior soccer standout had a pair of goals and four assists in a win over Savannah Christian.
Landon Ludwig, Benedictine
The junior went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs in a win over Jenkins and was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, while striking out five batters in two innings in a win over May River.
Edson Escobar, South Effingham
The senior had a goal and an assist in a win over Grovetown and has nine goals and 11 assists on the season for the Mustangs, who are off to an 8-1 start.
Bubba Frazier, Benedictine
The sophomore set personal bests in the 100 meters, with a time of 10.6 seconds, and the 200 meters, with a time of 21.7.
MaryGrace Meyers, St. Vincent's
The senior scored three goals in a win over Savannah Christian.
