Rider Bartel, Harbor Springs basketball

When the Rams needed someone to step up in the second half against Kalkaska, Bartel did that again for his team. The sophomore guard put up 31 points, essentially through three quarters.

Haidyn Wegmann, Petoskey basketball

A true point guard for Petoskey, Wegmann had a strong week capped by 14 points and four 3-pointers against Ovid-Elsie Saturday, after four points, six steals, five rebounds and three assists against TC West. Her pair of free throws late helped seal the win.

Jackson Deegan, Harbor Springs skiing

Deegan got his Lake Michigan Conference ski season started off right with a first place finish in the giant slalom race at Nub’s Nob, followed by a second place finish in the slalom.

Braydin Noble, Boyne City basketball

When Boyne City’s girls needed a win last week, Noble helped deliver one with a 16-point performance against East Jordan, which came with a pair of fourth quarter 3-pointers to help them pull away.

Landon Swanson, Charlevoix wrestling

The big season Swanson’s putting together on the mat continued last week with a 7-0 overall record across three meets. He also earned a tournament title at 215 pounds at the Mio Thunderbolt Invite.

Truett Kruger, Harbor Light basketball

Kruger is becoming an ace up the sleeve for the Harbor Light boys, coming off the bench and delivering double figures twice last week with 13 and 10 points in a pair of wins.

Avery Kita, Lake Charlevoix skiing

Kita had a great start to with the Lake Charlevoix ski team last week at Nub’s Nob, breaking out with a first place slalom finish against league foes, followed by a second place spot in the giant slalom race.
