Vote for The Oklahoman's Landmark Fine Homes fall high school athletes of the week

Voting for The Oklahoman's high school athlete of the week poll presented by Landmark Fine Homes is now open for Oct. 8-14 in cross country, fastpitch softball and volleyball. Fans can vote until noon Sunday.

Last week's winners were Santa Fe South Pathways Middle College's Ruben Gonzalez (boys cross country), Santa Fe South's Arely Sides (girls cross country), Dale's Kinsley Hill (fastpitch softball) and Bethany's Jaidyn Reid (volleyball).

Here are this week's nominees.

Boys cross country

Spencer Carlson, Sr., Deer Creek: He helped the Antlers claim the team title while running on their home trail at the COAC meet Tuesday. Carlson placed fifth in 15 minutes, 41.5 seconds.

Dade Humes, Sr., Piedmont: He took fourth at the COAC meet Tuesday as he finished his run with a time of 15:40.4.

Brennan Kirk, Sr., Choctaw: He won the Big 7 Conference meet at Eldon Lyon Park in Bethany on Tuesday. Kirk completed the run in 17:01.35.

Braden McNair, Jr., Luther: He placed fourth in 17:47 at the Finish on Empty meet in Cushing on Tuesday.

Colby Moore, Sr., Edmond North: He had an impressive performance at the COAC meet Tuesday, placing second in 15:24.4.

Girls cross country

Brooke Collins, Fr., Piedmont: She finished in 18:34.4 as she placed fifth and helped Piedmont place second at the COAC meet.

Aaliyah Joshua, Sr., Edmond Santa Fe: She placed third at the COAC meet on Tuesday as she completed the run in 17:59.0.

Morgan Kirkland, Sr., Edmond North: She won the COAC meet Tuesday and led Edmond North to the team title, finishing in 17:30.9.

Jordan Stejskal, So., Noble: She finished as the runner-up with a time of 22:35.23 in the five-kilometer competition at Elgin’s meet Friday.

Eva Tice, Jr., Westmoore: She took eighth at the COAC meet Tuesday. Tice finished in 18:48.4.

Fastpitch softball

Brooklyn Lyles, Sr., Newcastle: The University of Central Oklahoma commit had a stellar week during the Racers' Class 4A state title run, batting .667 and hitting three RBIs. Lyles concluded her senior season without striking out a single time in 128 plate appearances despite battling through a torn hip labrum throughout the year.

Payten Schibbelhute, Sr., Piedmont: Schibbelhute is now 12-0 in career starts at the state tournament dating back to her sophomore year. The Oklahoma Christian commit pitched a shutout in two of the Wildcats’ wins and had four hits at the plate to help Class 5A Piedmont win its third consecutive state title.

Ryen Bullock, Fr., Southmoore: Bullock scored the game-winning run in the SaberCats’ walk-off Class 6A state title win against Edmond Memorial. The freshman led the team with seven hits and four RBIs as Southmoore ended the year winning 22 of its last 25 games.

Sydnee Seat, Sr., Edmond Memorial: Seat’s efforts at the plate were impressive as she helped Edmond Memorial finish as the Class 6A runner-up. The Oklahoma Christian commit batted .800 in her three state tournament games and scored three runs with five RBIs.

Volleyball

Landry Braziel, Sr., Community Christian: Braziel registered 44 kills, seven aces, six blocks and 33 digs as Community Christian captured its first Class 4A state title. The Royals swept North Rock Creek and Tulsa Cascia Hall before defeating Bethany, 3-1, in the finals.

Emma Converse, Sr., Deer Creek: Converse tallied 33 kills, seven aces, 10 digs and two blocks to lead Deer Creek to the Class 6A state tournament. The Antlers defeated Lawton Eisenhower and Piedmont in straight sets at regionals.

Madi Hathaway, Sr., Edmond Memorial: Hathaway logged 17 assists, 37 digs, five kills and two aces in Edmond Memorial’s regional finals against Westmoore. The defending champion Bulldogs swept Putnam West and Westmoore to return to the Class 6A state tournament.

Hannah Joy Nuthman, Jr., Christian Heritage: Nuthman provided 54 digs, nine aces and 38 kills with a .331 hitting percentage as CHA won its first state title since 2017. She led CHA with 15 kills in the Class 3A championship sweep of Southwest Covenant.

Livia Ward, Jr., Mount St. Mary: Ward finished with 52 assists and 14 digs in Mount St. Mary’s 3-1 regional victory over Norman North. The Rockets defeated Southmoore and Norman North to reach the state tournament in their Class 6A debut.
