Mia Izzo voted North Jersey Girls Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 9-15
After four days of voting, Park Ridge junior middle Mia Izzo was selected as the North Jersey Girls Volleyball Player of the Week.
Izzo led the Owls to a 3-0 week, including a 2-0 road win at Cresskill that pulled them even atop the NJIC Patriot Division. She tallied 24 kills, 3 blocks, 21 service points and 7 aces.
Here were the other nominees:
Bella Foster
Fort Lee senior middle
Foster led the Lady Bridgemen (17-3) to a 4-0 week and a spot in the BIT semifinals. She broke a school record with 28 kills vs. Bergenfield, totaling 60 kills, 12 blocks and 25 digs for the week.
Olivia Isaacson
Wayne Valley senior setter
Isaacson helped the Indians claim their sixth Passaic County championship in eight years with a 25-assist, 5-dig performance in the final against Passaic Tech. In four matches, she put up 81 assists.
Lina Kim
Dwight Morrow senior OH
The Maroon Raiders ended a 13-match losing streak with a 2-0 win over Kennedy, in which Kim logged 3 kills, 14 digs, 2 blocks, 2 assists and 1 ace. She had 32 digs in three matches.
Taylor Miller
Demarest senior OH/MB
The Norsewomen enjoyed another 4-0 week, advancing to the Bergen County semifinals with a win over Bergen Tech. Miller registered 53 kills, 15 digs, 8 blocks and 7 aces.
Lakshita Palanivelu
Mahwah senior libero
The first-year varsity player has led the Big North in digs for much of the season, and she had 38 in a three-set match with rival Ramsey. Overall, Palanivelu had 67 digs in four matches.
Angela Wu
Bergen Charter senior OH
The Yellowjackets ended the week with three straight wins to improve to 11-4, and Wu notched 33 kills (15 vs. Passaic Charter), 13 digs and 7 aces (5 against North Star Academy).
