Katie Reiner voted North Jersey Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 26-Jan. 7

After four days of voting, Becton junior guard Katie Reiner was selected as the North Jersey Girls Basketball Player of the Week.

Reiner netted her 1,000th career point in the Garfield Holiday Tournament against the host team, reaching the milestone on one of her 6 three-pointers en route to a 28-point outing. Including a tough loss to Eastern Christian, she averaged 22 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals for the tournament.

Here were the other nominees:

Dani Daproza

Leonia freshman guard

Daproza helped the Lions win the Hawthorne Holiday Tournament, averaging 30.5 points and 10.5 steals and making 20-of-24 free throws (83%) to earn tournament MVP honors. She posted a triple-double of 31 Points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals in the Dec. 28 final against Emerson.

Erin Fahy

Cresskill senior forward

In three games, Fahy averaged 20.3 points and 11.7 rebounds, including a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double to help the Cougars defeat Dumont in the Adopt A Soldier Showcase. She also logged a double-double against division rival Park Ridge (21 points, 17 rebounds).

Olivia Isaacson

Wayne Valley senior guard

The 5-foot-4 volleyball/basketball standout helped her hoops team shake off an 0-6 start by opening 2-0 in the Big North Independence Division. She notched her third 30-plus point game of the year in a win over Passaic Valley (34 points, 5 steals) and added 17 points and 5 steals vs. Lakeland.

Ava Rizos

Wood-Ridge senior forward

Rizos powered the Blue Devils to the final of the Indian Hills Holiday Tournament, going the length of the court for a buzz-beating basket in a 33-32 semifinal win over Saddle Brook. She averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 6 steals for the tournament runner-up.

Samantha Serrano

Holy Angels senior guard

Serrano scored her 1,000th career point in a Jan. 2 victory over Paramus Catholic, registering 32 points, 8 steals and 6 three-pointers. In a 2-1 week, which included a close loss to rival IHA, she averaged 20.7 points (to bring her career total to 1,037) and 5.0 steals while draining 11 threes.

Angie Tirado

Demarest junior guard

The Norsewomen (8-3) went 3-1 during the first week of the New Year, and Tirado averaged 24 points and 6 rebounds during the stretch. She had a 34-point game against Teaneck and a 29-point outing vs. Tenafly to help her team get within one of equaling last season’s win total.
