VOTE: Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week presented by Babcock Ranch for April 15-20

The Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week poll for April 15-20 is here.

Each week the Naples Daily News staff will select one finalist in each high school sport. Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Collier County’s coaches during the week to sports@naplesnews.com. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine who the Athlete of the Week will be.

The poll is posted at naplesnews.com each Monday, and voting will end at 10 a.m. Thursday each week. The winner will be announced on the @ndnprepzone Instagram page and on X at @NDN_PrepZone. The winning athlete will receive a shirt courtesy of BSN Sports.

Last week's winner was Gulf Coast girls lacrosse player Emma Masterson. She received 2,267 votes of the 5,169 cast (43.86%) to win Athlete of the Week.

Here are the nominees for this week:

Baseball

Nate Kantor, Barron Collier

Threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit against Canterbury to give Barron a 6-4 win.

Softball

Joslyn Baker, Naples

Went 11-for-19 with 8 runs scored and 2 RBI in five games against Oasis, Seacrest, Aubrey Rogers, Mater Lakes, and John Carroll Catholic.

Boys Lacrosse

Nate Sopchak, Gulf Coast

Became Gulf Coast's all-time leader in points in program history, scoring three goals to help propel the Sharks past Venice in the Class 2A-District 12 title game.

Girls Lacrosse

Ruby Smith, Community School

Netted five goals for the Seahawks in the Class 1A-District 12 championship game, helping defeat Naples 10-3.

Boys Track and Field

Treaden Henry, Community School

Took home a pair of first place finishes between shot put and discus, posting marks of 14.04 meters and 45.20 meters, respectively.

Girls Track and Field

Aniston Newman, First Baptist

Took home the Private 8 long jump title, adding a second-place finish in the 100 hurdles and a PR in the 200, placing fourth to help First Baptist secure the girls title by 19 points.
