Alexandra Sweetman of Sussex Tech voted Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week
After four days of voting, Sussex Tech sophomore pitcher/shortstop Alexandra Sweetman was selected as the Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week.
Sweetman went 7-for-11 with four doubles, three RBIs, a triple, a walk, three stolen bases, and three runs scored as Sussex Tech beat Boonton and Hackettstown. On the mound, she allowed five hits and a walk, striking out 10 in five innings of scoreless ball against the Bombers.

Josh Brancy
Sparta senior centerfielder
Brancy, Sparta's leadoff hitter, was 8-for-17 with three doubles, five stolen bases, six runs scored and four RBIs.
Isabella Cefola
Mount Olive junior centerfielder
Cefola was 5-for-17 with a walk, hit by a pitch, three RBIs and six runs scored as the Marauders went 1-4 last week. Cefola had seven stolen bases, breaking Mount Olive's single-season and career records.
Luke Cimino and Scott Sullivan
Madison first doubles
The juniors defeated Kinnelon, Hanover Park and Parsippany HIlls< all in straight sets, to remain undefeated.
Dylan Fitzsimmons
Morris Knolls junior centerfielder/pitcher
Fitzsimmons was 1-for-20 with a walk, three doubles, two stolen bases, three home runs, nine runs scored and 13 RBIs as Morris Knolls went 4-1 last week. He allowed one hit and struck out three in two innings of relief, earning the win against DePaul on Saturday.
Andrew Guffanti
Whippany Park junior right fielder
Guffanti went 7-for-12 with two doubles, two triples, a walk, three stolen bases, four runs scored and seven RBIs as Whippany Park went 4-0 last week/
Gabrielle Heim
Sparta senior pitcher
Heim allowed five hits, three walks and four runs (three earned), striking out 34 in 18 innings. At the plate, Heim was 5-for-9 with two doubles, a walk, a run scored and three RBIs as the Spartans lost to Roxbury and Morris Catholic and won at Blair.
Pete Malizzi
Hopatcong senior pitcher/shortstop
Malizzi went 8-for-11, with two doubles, a triple, a home run, four stolen bases, five runs scored and five RBIs as Hopatcong went 2-1 last week. He hit for the cycle in a 17-7 victory against Warren Tech on April 23. On the mound, Malizzi allowed four hits, walked three, hit a batter and and struck out eight as the Chiefs beat Sussex Tech, 2-0, on April 22.
Joey Mendez
Wallkill Valley senior golfer
Mendez shot a 2-under 32 on Tuesday at Crystal Springs Golf Course, the lowest reported high school round in New Jersey this spring. Mendez averaged 38.4 strokes in the Rangers' four matches, victories against Hopatcong and Newton and a loss to Sparta.
Avery Miller
Hopatcong junior pitcher
Miller allowed 16 hits, a walk, and four earned runs, striking out six – including the 200th batter of her career – in nine innings of Hopatcong's losses to Mountain Lakes and North Warren.
Madison Mortimer
Kinnelon sophomore goalie
Mortimer allowed 25 goals, made 50 saves, and had eight ground balls and three forced turnovers as Kinnelon lost to Scotch Plains and Glen Rock, and defeated Villa Walsh.
Isaac Smith-Lewis
Lenape Valley sophomore
Smith-Lewis helped Lenape Valley earn 28 team points at Randolph Relays on Saturday, winning the long and triple jumps, and clearing six feet – the best high jump mark of the day. Smith-Lewis also won the high jump and was second in long jump at dual meets against Vernon and Jefferson.
Kevin Tinio
Randolph junior setter
Tinio had 39 assists – including the 800th of his career – four kills, a block, nine digs and three aces as Randolph defeated Chatham and Morristown.
Nick Werner
Pequannock junior pitcher
Werner totaled three hits, eight walks and six runs (four earned), striking out 22, in 11 innings. He had a complete-game no-no hitter with a school-record 18 strikeouts in Pequannock's 2-0 Morris County Tournament victory against Morristown Beard on Saturday.
Ian Yip
Sparta sophomore first singles
Yip won the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex first singles title as the No. 4 seed, helping Sparta win the team title for the second year in a row. Yip lost at first singles in both Sparta's regular-season matches last week.
