Meet the Louisville-area high school athlete of week from Portland Christian softball

Portland Christian sophomore softball player Ava Gish was voted this week's Courier Journal girls athlete of the week.

Manual senior lacrosse player Cameron Breier finished second.

Cameron Breier, Manual, lacrosse

Manual senior Cameron Breier scored eight goals and handed out six assists to help Manual beat Mercy.

Ava Gish, Portland Christian, softball

Portland Christian sophomore Ava Gish had seven hits and five RBIs in games against Beth Haven, Presentation and Christian Educational Consortium.

Bridgette Haraden, Collegiate, lacrosse

Collegiate senior Bridgette Haraden had six goals and one assist against Cooper.

Maya Merrill, Mercy, softball

Mercy senior Maya Merrill struck out 31 batters in games against Fern Creek, Atherton and Boyle County. She also earned the save against Fern Creek.

Lauren Satterly, Assumption, softball

Assumption junior Lauren Satterly recorded six hits, including two home runs, six RBIs and two stolen bases to lead the Rockets to wins over Eastern, Male and Jeffersonville (Indiana).
