Northwestern students win latest Erie Times-News athlete of the week polls
Albion athletes continue to dominate the spring winners for the Erie Times-News Seaway Window and AHN male and female athlete of the week polls.
Northwestern baseball player Nick Timm and softball player Zoey Johnson were first for their respective ballots. Timm was the second victor from his team, while Johnson was the third straight female victor who's represented the Wildcats.
Timm was honored for his performance during Northwestern’s 8-1 victory vs. the Iroquois Braves. He struck out 12 batters as a pitcher and drove in three runs as a hitter.
Timm received 91 votes out of the 836 submitted overall. Rylan Sorge, a Cathedral Prep lacrosse player, was a distant second with 58.
Johnson was recognized for her four-hit effort during the Wildcats’ 15-5 victory against the North East Grapepickers. She was the only nominee (118 votes) who surpassed triple digits.

How it works
The Erie Times-News will conduct Erie County male and female high school Athlete of the Week polls through the Memorial Day weekend.
Normal posting for the polls will be from Monday at 5 p.m. through Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Readers can nominate an Erie County athlete for them by sending an email to sports@timesnews.com, with "Athlete of the Week nominee" in the subject line. Please include the athlete's name, school, sport and year, plus a breakdown of their achievements from the previous week.
Although we don't promise all nominees will be used, we will consider their additions.
