It is time again to vote for the DC Roofing 321preps Athlete of the Week at 321preps.com and floridatoday.com.
The following athletes were nominated for their performances from Oct. 2-7. You will find the ballot at the bottom of the page. Be sure to refresh if the poll isn't visible upon first loading. Voting will be open until noon on Thursday this week.
Last week's winner was Ava Keller of MCC volleyball. Find a list of the 2023-24 winners at the bottom of this page.
Coaches and athletic directors are invited to nominate athletes each week. E-mail the athlete's accomplishments for the previous Monday through Saturday to bmccallum@floridatoday.com by 10 a.m. each Monday.
Here are this week's nominees:
Josiah Allen, Titusville football
Allen recorded seven tackles in the Terriers win and threw the winning touchdown pass to complete the comeback and stay unbeaten.
Abby Clayton, Cocoa Beach swimming
Clayton won the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.37) and the 200 IM (2:12.94) at the Cape Coast Conference meet Friday.
Kellie Cousins, Rockledge volleyball
Cousins recorded 18 kills and four aces in a win over Heritage and 16 kills in a win over Titusville on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
Avalean Crouser, Cocoa Beach volleyball
Crouser has posted a .500 hitting percentage with 45 kills over the last three Minutemen matches.
Noah Flores, Satellite football
Flores rushed 26 times for 134 yards and a touchdown while also catching five passes in the Scorps road victory.
Markel Gowins, Eau Gallie football
Gowins made 11 tackles, eight of them solo, sacked the quarterback twice and forced two fumbles on Friday in the Commodores victory.
Bode Handwork, Merritt Island Christian football
Handwork rushed for two touchdowns and passed for three on Friday as the Cougars defeated Liberty Christian.
Eliza Hicks, West Shore diving
Hicks won the Cape Coast Conference girls diving championship Thursday by scoring 448.2 points.
D.J. Hunter, Astronaut football
Hunter scored four rushing touchowns and threw for a score as the War Eagles won at Winter Springs on Friday.
Hayden Lester, Titusville swimming
Lester won the 200 IM in 1:59.90, the 100 backstroke in 52.37 seconds and swam on the winning 200 medley relay as the Terriers won the CCC title.
Dai'veon Parham, Cocoa football
Parham recorded a team-high 10 tackles, seven of them solo, on Friday at home as the Tigers defeated Sanford Seminole.
Gavin Schumacher, Satellite swimming
Schumacher won the 100 breaststroke (58.69 seconds), 100 free (46.72) and swam on the CCC-record-setting 200 free relay.
Lucas Smit, Palm Bay diving
Smit won the boys individual title on Thursday at the Cape Coast Conference diving meet, scoring 455.2 points, a margin of 73 points.
Emily Street, Space Coast bowling
Street bowled a game of 226 Thursday at River Lanes following a game of 203 on Tuesday at Merritt Island Shore Lanes.
Tyler Wickfelder, Edgewood bowling
Wickfelder bowled a game of 278 on Tuesday at Merritt Island Shore Lanes in a match against Space Coast.
