Vote for the Battle Creek Enquirer Athlete of the Week - Week of April 29

Meet the Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Oaklawn Hospital.

Each week during the high school sports season, we will ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all the spring sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday.

Make sure to vote early and often for your pick, as the winner will get an Enquirer Athlete of the Week T-shirt. Fans can vote for their favorite athlete until Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Calhoun Christian/St. Philip Girls Soccer

The Calhoun Christian/St. Philip co-op girls soccer team opened the season at 7-0. Part of that hot start has come because of the standout play of sophomore Elise Wylie, who had five goals in three games last week.

Climax-Scotts/St. Philip Baseball

Third baseman Ben Crocker had a big game from the plate in a doubleheader against rival Colon last week. Crocker went 3-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI, while adding a walk and four runs scored in a 15-2 win over the Magi.

Pennfield Softball

Pennfield pitcher Avery Moran has had an impressive start to the season. Earlier in the year, Moran pitched both ends of a doubleheader sweep of Hastings, getting a no-hitter in one game and striking out 14 batters overall in the two contests. Last week, she pitched another shutout as she earned two wins in a doubleheader sweep of Charlotte.

Harper Creek Girls Track

Senior Madison Berning helped the Harper Creek girls track team win the Union City Invitational with a standout performance. Berning finished first in the 800 and was a part of two winning relay teams, taking the 1,600 relay and the 3,200 relay. Berning is also coming off a standout All-City meet where she won the 800 and the long jump and was a member of the winning 1,600 relay team.
