It's time to make your choice for the Austin-area boys high school athlete of the week for Dec. 18-23. Johnson guard Jaxson Vandegarde was voted the top boys athlete for the week of Dec. 11-16, just as Georgetown guard Reese Hoadley was voted that week's top girls athlete.

This week's list includes five of the top girls athletes from area basketball teams.

Here are this week's candidates:

Kai Canfield, Georgetown basketball

Peyton Dulin, Cedar Ridge basketball

Exploded for 37 points to lead the Raiders to a 66-65 win over Westwood in District 25-6A play

Junior Goodlet, Stony Point

Scored 17 points to lead all players as the Tigers defeated Round Rock in a battle of ranked teams in the American-Statesman's power poll

Amir Thompson, Hendrickson

Finished with 22 points, six assists and three steals to help the Hawks to a key 72-68 district win over Cedar Creek

Kash Winters, Glenn

Hit five 3-pointers to spur the Grizzlies past Leander 52-41 in a District 25-5A contest
