It's time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.

Your vote will determine who will be the Advantage Federal Credit Union's Boys Sports Athlete of the Week for Jan. 1-7. The players' credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Wednesday morning.

All athletes who play on Section V boys teams are eligible to be nominated.

Dylan Buffum

Webster Schroeder senior produced the best long jump in Section V this season, 22 feet-1/4 inch during a Monroe County league meet at Nazareth University. He also placed third in the 300-meter dash race.

Matthew Carmestro

Hilton's bowling star rolled a 247 high game and 720 high series at Greece Olympia on Jan. 3.

Dominic Falbo

The Canandaigua swim star won the 200 free and 100 back during a loss to Honeoye Falls-Lima on Jan. 4.

Nathaniel Fisher

Brockport senior won a 1,000-meter race at SUNY Brockport in 2:34.78, the fastest time in Section V this season. He is also No. 1 on 1,600 leaderboard with a time ran earlier this winter.

Aaron Gurell

The Honeoye Falls-Lima swim star won the 500 free during a win over Canandaigua on Jan. 4.

Merritt Holly

Le Roy's basketball star tied the program's 61-year-old record for points in a win over Rochester Prep on Jan. 5. Holly scored 47 points, including the game-winning basket of a 55-52 win. Holly made 18-23 field goals, 11-21 free throws, and grabbed 18 rebounds.

Micah Johnson

The East High basketball star scored 33 points on five 3-pointers in a win over Bishop Kearney. Johnson's Eagles began the season 7-0 and are ranked No. 2 in the state.

Kevin Martinez

The Newark bowling star shot a 234 high game and 657 high series against Geneva on Jan. 4.

Jameson Motyka

The junior forward on Batavia Notre Dame United pushed his team to three wins last week with 10 points in three games. He had two goals in each contest.

George Newsome

Palmyra-Macedon's swim star won the 500 free, 200 free, and swam a leg on the winning 400 free relay with Hayden Smith, Jay Sanson and Evan Sousa at Newark's 10th Annual Jim DeWitt Invitation on Jan. 6.

Samuel Schultz

Portside hockey’s sophomore forward scored an overtime goal, his second tally of the game, to beat Greece on Friday.

Ben Sneddon

The Hilton basketball star scored 37 points in a 94-91 triple overtime win over Brighton on Jan. 5.

Perrion Williams

The senior on the Franklin/Northeast/School of the Arts/World of Inquiry team, ran the fastest 55-meter dash in Section V this season, 6.41 seconds at SUNY Brockport. He also won the 300 dash race in 35.25, also the best this season in the section. The previous fastest 300 this season in the area had been set the day before.

Aidan White

The Fairport basketball star dropped 36 points in a win over Victor on Jan. 3.
