Volleyball: Lady Pirates complete county sweep

Sep. 22—Greensburg completed its sweep of the county schools with a 3-set win at South Decatur Thursday. The Lady Pirates won 25-13, 25-14 and 25-11. Greensburg defeated North Decatur earlier this week.

The Lady Pirates put away 34 kills in the match. Mya Comer led the way with 10 kills. Averi Helms and Claire Nobbe both added six kills. Claire Larrison and Victoria Stier both had five kills. Rylee Hofer finished with two kills.

Setting the offense was Helms and Comer with 11 assists each. Kirkley Lowe added six assists followed by Nobbe three and Maggie Leap one.

From the service line, Greensburg served eight aces, led by Nobbe with three. Carmin Ripperger added two aces. Comer, Larrison and Lowe all served an ace.

Defensively, Nobbe led the Lady Pirates with four solo blocks. Larrison chipped in with three blocks. Comer had a team-high 24 digs followed by Helms 18, Ripperger 16 and Lowe 10.

Greensburg is now 8-11 overall, 4-1 in the conference. The Lady Cougars are 12-5 overall and 3-2 in the MHC.

Batesville

BATESVILLE — The Lady Bulldogs hosted the South Dearborn Thursday with all three teams taking to the court. Batesville swept the Lady Knights.

Batesville's C team won 25-10 and 25-21.

For Batesville, Eliza Weiler served 15-of-15 with eight aces. Cora Roth served 9-of-11 with five aces to go with six assists and five kills. Ella King had five kills and Ella Weber added four assists.

In the junior varsity match, Batesville won 25-19 and 25-13.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Anya Richey and Brooke Wilhelm both served four aces. Addison Luers led the team with seven kills followed by Richey and Liv Maddock with four kills each. Wilhelm dished out 13 assists.

The varsity Lady Bulldogs won in three sets 25-21, 25-6 and 25-11.

For Batesville, Maggie Wilson served 20-of-21.b Isabelle Wonnell had four aces followed by Maddie Haskamp with three aces. Aly Peters had a big night defensively in the front row stopping the Lady Knights offense.

Rushville

The Lady Lions competed in the Lawrenceburg tournament and went 1-3 on the day.

Rushville fell to Jennings County 25-12 and 25-5, to Rising Sun 25-7 and 25-10 and to Hauser 25-19 and 25-12. The Lady Lions defeated Switzerland County 25-18 and 26-24.

In action this week, the Lady Lions lost a tight match to Cambridge City Lincoln 23-25, 25-11, 20-25, 25-17 and 16-14.

Rushville also lost to Jennings County 25-22, 25-7 and 25-6.
