VOLLEYBALL: Am-Po volleyball earns hosting opportunity during postseason

Sep. 26—One area volleyball team has had enough success to earn a postseason hosting opportunity.

Regional volleyball assignments and tournaments recently got announced by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association, and the Amber-Pocasset Lady Panthers are the one area team with an opportunity to play at home during their upcoming regional tournament.

The Lady Panthers enter the Class 3A postseason as one of the top teams in the class and the top-ranked public school in the class. Am-Po is currently ranked fourth in Class 3A, only finishing behind three private schools in the OSSAA's 3A rankings.

The Lady Panthers also received a first-place vote in the most recent poll.

And now, the Lady Panthers will get to play at home while looking to secure a spot in the Class 3A state tournament. They will also be the No. 1 seed in a tournament that features five other teams and one other ranked team.

The only other ranked team in the class is No. 13 Salina. Clinton, Indiahoma, Navajo and Temple are the other teams.

Other teams

Chickasha and Cement both compete in Class 3A.

Chickasha got placed in a regional that No. 3 Crossings Christian will host. Cement got placed in a regional that No. 7 Christian Heritage Academy will host.

In Class 4A, No. 13 Tuttle got put in a regional that No. 4 Oklahoma Christian School will host. No. 2 Bethany will host Blanchard's regional.
