Man's missing Houston Astros World Series ring returned thanks to 8-year-old boy

The missing World Series ring from a longtime worker at the Houston Astros' ballpark has been found and returned to its rightful owner.

Janie Arredondo posted on Facebook June 18 that the missing ring belonged to her friend's dad, who has worked at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, for 23 years. While working at the Father's Day game, the man, identified by local media as Reynaldo Muñoz, took off his ring to wash his hands and received a call for assistance.

He realized the ring was missing about 20 minutes later, but when he went to check where he left it, it was already gone.

"His Father's Day was ruined," Arredondo wrote on Facebook.

According to ABC 13 in Houston, 8-year-old Neymar Davalos found the ring and gave it to his dad, Ray Davalos, as a Father's Day present, who originally thought it was a replica. After seeing Arredondo's post, which had over 6K shares, he realized he had the missing ring and met up with Muñoz to return it.

"And I'm like, 'Son, we have to give this back.' And he's like, 'Dad, but that was your Father's Day gift.' And I say 'Yeah, but what would Jesus do?'" Davalos told ABC 13.

Arredondo also shared the update on Facebook Tuesday, writing "RING HAS BEEN RETURNED!"

World Series rings are not only reserved for players on the winning team. It's up to the individual teams to decide, but employees and staff can also receive them.

Muñoz's last name is engraved on the side of the ring. Fan rings from the Astros' 2022 World Series win start at $499 on Jostens, and limited edition rings are over $15,000.
