Vince Carter named to the Florida Sports Hall of Fame

Former North Carolina Tar Heel standout Vince Carter is set to receive another accolade. And he’s going back to his home state to receive it.

Carter was one of the members selected to be inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame after an announcement was made last week. The Daytona Beach native headlines the eight-person class for 2023, as he’s also joined by fellow Tar Heel Ashlyn Harris.

The full class is as follows: LeRoy Butler, Tom Coughlin, Elaine Larsen, Shannon Miller, Greg Coleman, Jeff Johnson, Carter, and Harris. The eight-member class was officially announced in Port St. Lucie during a reception.

Carter spent 22 seasons in the NBA after being drafted by the Toronto Raptors out of North Carolina. He spent time with Toronto, New Jersey, Orlando, Phoenix, Dallas, Memphis, Sacramento, and Atlanta.
