Video Transcript

JJ REDICK: The last 30 years of basketball have been beyond my wildest dreams, I never could have imagined that I would have played basketball for this long. I'm retiring from the game that I love so much.

JARED QUAY: That's NBA guard JJ Redick announcing his retirement after 15 years in the league. Dude became an instant legend at Duke as one of the most hated players out there, but flipped the script and became beloved during his time in the NBA, especially once he started hosting his podcast and letting his personality shine. During his two years with the Philadelphia 76ers, JJ averaged 17.6 points per game and shot an incredible 40.7% from 3-point range. That's amazing.

Word on the street is JJ's former Philly teammate Ben Simmons may also be planning to retire from the 76ers. You see what I did? I put a pause in there.

Simmons is reportedly not budging from his request to be traded and is prepared to sit out training camp, which begins next week. The all-star forward could be fined close to $230,000 each day he sits out of camp, which is a steep price to not be working on your jump shot, Ben. I mean, even if you go to another team, they gonna want you to hit them free throws. To be honest, I thought it would have been traded by now.

People love ragging on some holes in Ben's game, but I say, enough with the Simmons slander. Is he an all-world player like Kevin Durant? No, but he's still really good. I mean, he can't hit free throws at 3-pointers. But Shaq couldn't either, and my man got four rings.

Speaking of rings, guess it was a guess that Anthony Davis' wedding?

ADELE: (SINGING) Hello.

[APPLAUSE]

ADELE: (SINGING) It's me.

JARED QUAY: Hell yeah. Adele made things IG official with her boyfriend, super agent Rich Paul, posting these pics from AD's wedding. Adele has been on the sports scene with Rich for quite a while, and I feel like she's up to something. Like maybe her and LeBron are forming some super ownership team to bring the NBA to London. I could see it now. It'll be the London [? Spiderwebs. ?] That got a nice ring to it, too.

You know who else is going across the pond?

- The NFL.

JARED QUAY: Yes, John Oliver. The Combine is headed to your native jolly old England. In October, 50 prospects from 15 different countries will shoot their shot at the league, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Look, I know this is supposed to be an opportunity for international athletes, but if I go all the way to London for a workout, I'm an international prospect, right?

I know. I mean, London is my favorite city. I better make it, at least, on the soccer club. I can be on, like, Manchester United B team and maybe their under-12 team. I'd be good at soccer, if I was up against a bunch of 12-year-olds.
