[VARIOUS SPORTS SOUNDS] ERIC EDHOLM: One of the more interesting 2022 NFL draft prospects has got to be LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. Looked like a top five pick at one point. His stock has simmered just a bit. On the upside, Stingley burst onto the scene as a true freshman in 2019 for the national champs. Looked like a star in the making. Natural coverage ability. Good dimensions. Plenty of athleticism. And for the man who used to battle Ja'Marr Chase daily in practice, he's got the confidence to take on all comers. On the downside, it's really been two years since we saw any kind of elite level performance from Stingley. Inconsistent in 10 games over the past two years. Zero interceptions. Some sluggish play. Plus, some character stuff the teams need to vet. That's quite a bit to sort through for a potential top 15 pick. Our NFL comp for Stringley, style-wise he gives us some J.C. Jackson vibes.
