Dennis Schroder on Call of Duty

Lakers' PG Dennis Schroder talks his new-found love of Call of Duty and the postseason prospects of his team.

Dennis participated in filming the Call of Duty film campaign “All of Us.” Directed by young visionary Gibson Hazard who partnered with Activision and 72andSunny, the short features celebrity friends squadding up from across culture, gaming and sports. The film celebrates Call of Duty’s free-to-play game, Warzone, which launched in March 2020. This is the first time Activision has supported Warzone with a live action shoot of this kind.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: So I'm Lajethro Jenkins, here, with Los Angeles Laker PG Dennis Schroder. How are you doing, my G?

DENNIS SCHRODER: I'm good, man.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Players have been expressing concerns due to all the injuries, you know what I'm saying? Like, they're taking place. So what are your thoughts on that? This second half of the season has been a grind.

DENNIS SCHRODER: I mean, when we finish this season, I think we're going to play. Then it's going to get back to normal where we start you know October 1, or October the first week. And then we can get slowly back to normal. And that's what they're trying to do. So I mean, we just got to go through this one one or two years. And then we be back normal.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: I've been big on you since, like, 2017. That's when I saw you in ATL playing against the Cavs. And you were going back and forth with LeBron in the fourth quarter. I remember it, you know what I mean? I love what you're doing on both ends of the court. What do we have to do to ensure that you're back, I mean, that you stay a Laker. What could I do personally. Let me know.

DENNIS SCHRODER: For eight years I've been, now, in this league. And I couldn't decide one time where I wanted to sign. And I couldn't even see other offers, you know? So the only thing while I'm doing this is just to see and that I can decide, OK, I want to sign long term with this team or with this team, you know? Like, it's not because I don't want to resign with the Lakers. And it's about $84 million, because we know $84 million is a lot of money.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: But you want to get your value before [INAUDIBLE].

DENNIS SCHRODER: Yeah, that first. And then, of course, I want to decide this time, you know?

LAJETHRO JENKINS: What do you think are the odds on the Lakers going back to back this year?

DENNIS SCHRODER: It's a lot of firepower in this league, you know? But I think when we really lock in and when everybody comes back and we get on the same page, like we're playing right now. I mean, we 8 and 5 or 8 and 6 without--

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Mhm. Mhm.

DENNIS SCHRODER: [INAUDIBLE], you know what I'm saying? Like, over five--

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Big things, yeah.

DENNIS SCHRODER: When they get back, it's going to be scary. And I mean, it's going to be really, really tough to beat us in seven game serious. So I'm looking forward to it, man. And we're going to work hard and try to get that back to back championship.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: You were part of a viral tweet playing COD with AD. During that viral video, you got kind of fried.

- Hey man, do you have any streaks? Ah shit, I'm going down. I'm going down.

- [INAUDIBLE]

- No, we [INAUDIBLE]

LAJETHRO JENKINS: It doesn't bother you your most viral moment is being sprayed by [INAUDIBLE] you know what I mean?

DENNIS SCHRODER: I had no plates. See, I'm trying to look for plates. And then I heard AD on the phone. I couldn't hear nothing. And this guy fried me. But it happens, you know? Warzone, it's a crazy game.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Who the top five Hoobers in COD, in your opinion?

DENNIS SCHRODER: I mean, I seen a MuTeX stream with Ben Simmons before. Ben Simmons wasn't bad. Then I heard from a couple of people that played with some ball players. They're saying Fox is pretty nice. Never played with him. D Book is nice, I heard. So yeah, we got a couple of them.
