Vanderbilt baseball will face a team that has opposing strengths when it heads to Georgia this weekend.
The Commodores (32-13, 11-10 SEC) have gotten strong production out of their pitching staff in SEC play but have struggled to win games when things go south on the mound. The Bulldogs (32-12, 10-11), meanwhile, are adept at hitting balls over fences but have lacked a stable or reliable pitching staff.
The games in Athens will be a test for Vanderbilt, which has won only one true road series this season. Georgia also has significant home/road splits and has won each of its three conference series at home but doesn't have a single series win on the road.
The Commodores will likely need to win this series to stay in the mix to host a regional with looming series against Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as a midweek game against Louisville.
