Vanatsky steps down as Lebanon volleyball coach

Mar. 7—Lebanon will be searching for a new volleyball coach.

Emily Vanatsky stepped down this week after three years in charge of the program.

"I have had the privilege of working with an exceptional group of student-athletes and dedicated coaches," Vanatsky said in a statement to the team. "We have achieved numerous milestones and successes on and off the court. I am grateful for the support and camaraderie I have experienced here. While departing from such a fulfilling role is difficult, I am confident this decision is necessary for my well-being and future endeavors."

Vanatsky first came to the Lebanon program as an assistant under Mark St. Martin before being named coach in the summer of 2021.

In her three seasons, the Tigers went 35-52 and 13-8 in the Sagamore Conference.

"I thank Emily Vanatasky for her dedication and commitment, to our players and volleyball program for the last several years," Lebanon Athletic Director Phil Levine said. "She worked hard to help build a program at Lebanon that can be competitive on all levels. I wish her the very best with her future endeavors."

A former Zionsville volleyball player, Vanatsky said she will continue to teach fifth grade at Perry Worth Elementary school.

She said she would also help with the transition to the new coach as the search goes on this spring.

"It has been an honor to lead and be a part of such a dedicated and passionate community," Vanatsky said. "I will do my utmost to ensure a smooth transition and assist in any way possible. I am confident that the program will continue to thrive under new leadership and reach even greater heights. I am grateful for my opportunities at Lebanon High School and will cherish the memories and experiences gained here."
