UWS volleyball logs sixth-straight win, sweeps North Central

Oct. 20—MINNEAPOLIS — A pair of double-digit kill performances by Emma Crandell (15) and Ayla Oltmanns (10) helped guide Wisconsin-Superior to its sixth-straight victory on Friday with a straight-set road sweep (25-16, 25-16, 25-19) of North Central University inside Clark-Danielson Gymnasium.

The win moves the Yellowjackets to a 17-0 record all-time against the Rams.

The visiting team held a convincing .333 to .076 edge in hitting behind efficient marks from Crandell and Maiana Stark, who finished with hitting percentages of .560 and .353, respectively, for the match. Oltmanns ended the night with a .250 hitting percentage.

Over the three sets, North Central was stymied by the defense of the Yellowjackets, which finished with seven blocks compared to the Rams' zero. Kaylin Plautz led the way with four block assists for UWS.

Colleen Claude and Lizzy Schmidt led the way in assists with 20 and 16, respectively, while Jenna Anderson paced the Yellowjackets in digs with 16.

UWS (15-7) will stay on the road for its next match against the University of Northwestern on Saturday at 1 p.m.
