UWS volleyball cruises past Crown

Sep. 22—ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. — Wisconsin-Superior went without an attack error until the second set and rolled past host Crown 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-22) in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball match on Friday night, Sept. 22.

The win was the 300th of coach Lynne Deadrick's UWS career, dating back to 2003.

UWS had 19 kills in the first set, a blowout in their favor. They ended up having more errors than the Polars in the match, 17-16, but remained in control of the match for the duration, with an 18-15 lead in the third the closest the Polars came to making a dent in UWS's advantage.

Kaylin Plautz had 10 kills for the Yellowjackets without an error for a hitting percentage of .625. Lizzy Schmidt dished out 22 assists and Colleen Claude 15. On the defensive end, three players had double-digit digs led by 19 from Lindsey Racine (Grand Rapids), while Schmidt and Jenna Anderson finished with 12 digs apiece.

UWS (9-5, 2-0 UMAC) continues its road weekend with a match at Minnesota Morris on Saturday afternoon.
