USC Aiken golf team wins Wexford Intercollegiate

Feb. 21—HILTON HEAD ISLAND — The USC Aiken golf team won the Wexford Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday.

The Pacers shot 15-over 879 to win the title in the 18-team field. Dayton was second at 884, and host Francis Marion and Richmond tied for third at 886.

The win is USCA's first team title since Oct. 27, 2020, when the Pacers won the UNG Fall Invitational. It's the 91st win in the program's Division II era, and this is the fourth time the Pacers have won this tournament.

Leonardo Bono led the way for the Pacers, finishing in a tie for second individually at 2-under 214, two back of medalist Grant Sellers of Francis Marion. Erik Olin tied for eighth at 219, Jonah Winter tied for 18th at 221, Oscar Abrahamsson was tied for 28th at 226, and Karl Frisk tied for 64th at 234.

The Pacers return to action Feb. 27-28 at the Spring Bulldog Clash, which will be held in Pawley's Island.
