USA TODAY Re-Rank, CBS Sports 133 differ on Iowa Hawkeyes ahead of Michigan matchup

Despite being 10-2 and Big Ten West division champions, the Iowa Hawkeyes are still continuing to draw strongly differing opinions on where they should be ranked among the rest of the country.

The US LBM Coaches Poll rewarded Iowa’s double-digit win total by moving them up two spots to No. 17 in the nation. Iowa didn’t win pretty at all this year, but they won and that is the name of the game.

To follow suit with that poll, CBS Sports 133 also slotted the Hawkeyes in at No. 17. They boosted Iowa up two spots with the win. Alternatively, the USA TODAY Re-Rank from Paul Myerberg somehow penalized Iowa and has them considerably lower than any other polls. Myerberg dropped the Hawkeyes three spots, despite a win, to No. 24 overall.

Up next for Iowa is the heavyweight matchup with the Michigan Wolverines. In the US LBM Coaches Poll, the USA TODAY Re-Rank, and the CBS Sports 133, Michigan held serve at No. 2, behind only Georgia, following their win over Ohio State.

Michigan has a spot in the College Football Playoff on the line, while Iowa will try to play spoiler and pull off one of college football’s biggest upsets in years. Iowa takes on Michigan this Saturday, Dec. 2nd in Indianapolis in Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT.
