Updated WR depth chart for Cardinals after DeAndre Hopkins’ release
The Arizona Cardinals announced the release of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins on Friday, saving them more than $8 million in salary cap space.
The release also changes the wide receiver room.
If Hopkins had remained on the roster, the Cardinals would have had an expected depth chart of:
DeAndre Hopkins
Greg Dortch/Michael Wilson
all the other guys
It would have been difficult for Wilson, a rookie drafted in the third round, to find any playing time.
Now this is what the depth chart looks like after Hopkins’ release.
Starters (top two): Hollywood Brown, Rondale Moore
Expected No. 3: Zsch Pascal
Battling for No. 4-5: Greg Dortch, Michael Wilson
Battling for a spot on the roster: Daniel Arias, Andre Baccellia, Brian Cobbs, Auden Tate, Javon Wims
This group is not overwhelming but it can still be productive, especially if they can get production in the passing back from tight ends Zach Ertz and Trey McBride.
