UNC football vs. Pittsburgh: Game time, TV channel announced for ACC opener

UNC football’s Week 4 game against Pittsburgh has its game time and TV channel, the ACC announced Monday.

The 20th-ranked Tar Heels (2-0) and Panthers (1-1) will open ACC play in primetime at 8 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Acrisure Stadium. The game will be televised on ACC Network.

Pitt won the ACC Championship in 2021 and UNC lost to Clemson in the 2022 title game. Carolina is 11-5 against the Panthers, but the Heels are 4-4 at Pittsburgh.

UNC, which hasn’t won at Pitt since 2017, started this season with a win against South Carolina in Charlotte before earning a thrilling double overtime victory against App State at Kenan Stadium. The Panthers beat Wofford by 38 points in Week 1 before losing to Cincinnati, 27-21, in Week 2.

But before the Tar Heels make the trip to Pittsburgh, they face Minnesota (2-0) on Saturday (3:30 p.m., ACC Network) for the first time in program history. Pitt travels to West Virginia for the annual Backyard Brawl rivalry game.

The other ACC programs in the Triangle had their game times and TV assignments in place before this week. NC State plays at Virginia on Friday, Sept. 22 (7:30 p.m., ESPN) and Duke travels to UConn the following day for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on CBS Sports Network.
