UNC basketball had highest attendance on average in 2022-23

The 2023 NCAA Tournament marches on as we have reached the Sweet 16 round going into the Elite Eight this weekend. But for the North Carolina Tar Heels, they are in offseason mode and attempting to fix the roster going into next season.

While there wasn’t a lot of good news surrounding the program this year, one positive was that the Tar Heels were at the top of the list for attendance in terms of averages.

Per Rachel Bachman of the Wall Street Journal, North Carolina finished fist in average attendance at 19,890. They beat out Kentucky (19,873),  Syracuse (19,102), Arkansas (19,051), and Tennessee (18,781) in the Top five.

Take a look at the list below:

One thing UNC has is the size of the Dean E. Smith Center which holds 21,750.

There’s no doubt there was a lot of excitement about this team going into the year and while it turned sour as the year went on, the Tar Heels still had the Dean Dome packed with fans for games.

I imagine it will be very similar next season, especially with Armando Bacot announcing he’s returning for another year. If UNC can fix the roster and get back to the winning ways, the Dean Dome crowd can have a little more excitement during games.
