Two Tar Heels named to preseason watch lists for specialists
The 2023 college football season is right around the corner and it’s officially award watch list season.
Already we have seen three different members of North Carolina’s roster earn a spot on a watch list. Quarterback Drake Maye, linebacker Cedric Gray and long snapper Drew Little earned some preseason recognition with their names being selected. And now, two more teammates are being added to a watch list.
On Wednesday, specialists Ben Kiernan and Ryan Coe were named to preseason watch lists.

Kiernan was named to the 2023 Ray Guy Award Preseason watch list which was announced by the Augusta Sports Council. The award is given out each season to the nation’s top punter. The list will be cut down to 10 semi-finalists in November and then to three finalists before a winner is announced in December.
Coe was named to the 2023 Lou Groza Award Preseason watch list. That list was announced by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. The award is given out to the nation’s top kicker each season.
