Two killed in crash with tractor-trailer on Highway 287 in Grand Prairie, police say

Two people were killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on U.S. 287 in Grand Prairie on Monday afternoon, police said.

The accident was reported about noon between FM 661 and Prairie Ridge Road.

Police said the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on the highway and crashed into three other vehicles after the truck driver failed to slow down when approaching traffic congestion caused by construction.

The drivers of two of the other vehicles, both men, were pronounced dead. Their names have not been released, pending notification of their families.

The people in the third vehicle were not injured.

A section of the highway was closed for several hours while police investigated.
