Twitter roasts Commanders after embarrassing first half vs. Lions

You couldn’t script a worse first half for the Washington Commanders if you tried on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

The Commanders allowed 250 total yards to the Lions in the first half. Washington was sacked four times, three by rookie defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and also allowed a safety.

The defense allowed big plays, including a 50-yard run by Detroit running back D’Andre Swift and a 49-yard reception by wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Meanwhile, on offense, the Commanders didn’t pick up their first first down until there 5:45 remaining in the second quarter. And after that first down, Washington tried a trick play, and it went as bad as you might imagine. Fortunately for Washington, it wasn’t a turnover but yet another wasted down.

Twitter had some fun at Washington’s expense after such an abysmal half.
