How Twitter reacted to Notre Dame-Stanford: Irish side
Notre Dame entered its game against Stanford with as much confidence as possible. The Legends Trophy remaining in South Bend appeared to be a foregone conclusion. Instead, the Irish will have to allow the trophy to spend at least the next year in Northern California. Such is the arrangement after a stunning 16-14 loss to the Cardinal.
Just when the Irish had momentum with a record above .500, they gave it all back with their second bad home loss this season. To say the least, Irish fans are not having this. Marcus Freeman was supposed to be a player’s coach who could relate to the young men he was in charge of and turn that into success. Instead, he and his staff have a lot of questions to answer from both media and fans.
Irish fans took to Twitter to voice their displeasure. Whether you’re on Twitter yourself or not, chances are you’re echoing what’s being said in this tweets:
Sean Clark
Haven’t felt this apathetic to a Notre Dame team since 2016. Just so bad

Alex Morton
This is not Notre Dame football. Freeman can’t coach, Tommy is too conservative with the play calls. We need a new staff. The team Freeman has should not be losing to Marshall or Stanford. It’s all coaching. Im embarrassed as a fan right now. Change is needed.

Just watched #NotreDame lose to Stanford at home and now I have to watch Clarke Schmidt try to close out a game with two runners on in the 9th. I am unwell.

Anybody know Notre Dame’s policy on returning degrees? I’ve got one from the College of Arts and Letters and I’m interested

Fire Rees. Now.
The offense has been slow to start and inconsistent all year. It’s time. #NDFB #NotreDameFootball #ndfootball #NotreDame #GoIrish

Marcus freeman, it’s a shame you are nice person, please never step foot on notre dame’s campus again

Being a Notre Dame football fan and Georgetown basketball fan should be illegal. It's literally Catholicism combining to prove that Buddhism is true: all sports are suffering. This is the annual mid-October "I hate myself" tweet. No further comment at this time.
