Scoring Summary

Black Hills — Josiah Knight (assisted by Cailen Grieff), second half

Three first-half goals allowed the Thunderbirds to post a 3-1 verdict over the Wolves in an Evergreen Conference match on Friday night. The triumph sets up a first-place showdown with W.F. West on Monday night in Chehalis.

Since losing its season-opener and drawing with North Thurston, Tumwater (2-1-1, 2-0 EvCo) has won its last two matches by two goals. The Thunderbirds got up big early and never looked back at home."My guys struggled to connect and move forward," Black Hills coach Jackie Zvirzdys said. "We made a few changes and the boys tried to find a groove."

The Wolves (0-3, 0-2) got on the board in the second half to avoid the shutout as Josiah Knight buried a pass from Cailen Grieff to find the back of the net.

"We tried a few players in different spots," Zvirzdys said. "I'm really proud of how hard they played (in the) second half. They followed through on the things we worked on at practice."
