Tuesday roundup: John Glenn boys golf shatters school record

Here are results from Tuesday's high school sporting events around the Muskingum Valley.

Boys Golf

John Glenn 140, River View 180, Coshocton 185, Crooksville 204: C.J. Dolan fired 34 to lead a historic performance for the Muskies, who improved to 17-0 in the MVL on the front nine at Hickory Flats.

Owen Van Fossen and Braden Rice added 35s and Noah Dever 36, as John Glenn's 4-under-par showing as a team was the best nine-hole score in school history.

Bo White shot 41 and Gabe Sandefur 46 for Crooksville; Thad Cox shot 38 and Caleb Kline 39 for River View; Coby Moore's 41 led Coshocton's cause.

Carter Summers chipped in 45 and Bransyn Dawson 46 for Coshocton.

Sheridan 166, Meadowbrook 171, Philo 190: Cody Hupp was co-medalist with 40 to pace the balanced Generals in an MVL trimatch at Jaycees.

Brice Kelly and Wyatt Satterfield carded 41s and Clayton Daly 44 for Sheridan; Steven Grafton's 40 shared medalist honors for Meadowbrook. Ben Coss and Owen Dennis had 42 for the Colts.

A.J. Layton shot 46, Derek Randolph 47 and Josh Gooden 48 for Philo.

Boys Soccer

Rosecrans 4, Lancaster Fisher Cath. 2: Grady Labishak scored three times for the Bishops in a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win on the road.

Connor Olney also scored for Rosecrans; Evan Tolliver and Tizian Schmelzer had assists.

Coshocton 3, New Lexington 1: Aiden Braxton converted a penalty kick and Thomas Inglima also found the back of the net, off a Braxton assist, in the first half, as the host Redskins won for the second time in three matches in an MVL-Small School affair at Stewart Field.

Inglima also scored in the second half, while no leaders were available for the Panthers.

Tri-Valley 4, Maysville 2: Sam Schott scored a goal and assisted on two, as the Scotties handed the visiting Panthers (6-3) their second straight loss in the MVL-Big School Division at Kenny Wolford Park.

Yuvi Bastola, Dominic Dale and Gael Oseguera also scored for Tri-Valley, which scored three times in the second half after trailing 2-1.

Owen Harney handled the Scotties goaltending.

No leaders were available for the Panthers.

River View 9, Philo 0: Cam Albertson kicked two goals and assisted on two others as the Black Bears rolled to a shutout win to stay unbeaten in the MVL-Big School Division.

Parker Andrews booted three goals for the winners; Cael Summers, Derek Beitzel, Carter Knicely and Colin Addy also scored.

Heath 4, Sheridan 0: The Generals dropped a nonleague match on their home field.

Volleyball

West Muskingum 25, 25, 25, Crooksville 22, 23, 21: The Tornadoes earned their first win of the season with an MVL-Small School win on their home court.

Leaders were not available.

John Glenn 25, 25, 25, Maysville 15, 16, 14: Emma Briggs had 13 kills with three aces and 15 digs to lead the Muskies in an MVL-Big School win.

Emma Dolan added eight kills, Lauren Blair 24 assists and seven digs and Faith Saxton five kills as John Glenn improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Rachel Jarvis had four kills and 13 digs for Maysville; Olivia McPeck had 11 assists and Bekah Scott 17 digs.

Sheridan 25, 25, 25, Philo 11, 12, 15: Jamisyn Stinson tallied 10 kills and 13 digs for the Generals (6-0, 5-0), who stayed unbeaten in the MVL-Big School Division.

Dylan Fox added 18 assists and was 15-of-17 on serves; Reagan Davis added four aces and 15 digs and Nora Saffell and Halle Warner chipped in six kills.

River View 18, 14, 25, 25, 16, Tri-Valley 25, 25, 21, 17, 14: Haley Balo triggered the Lady Bear comeback bid with 23 kills as they improved to 6-2 with an MVL-Big School road win.

Kelsie Smith added 43 assists and 10 digs and Layla Olinger nine kills for River View; Brittany Henderson had 10 digs.

Eva Dittmar piled up 23 kills and Ingrid Dittmar 40 assists for Tri-Valley; Annika Collet had 10 kills, Caity Journey 15 digs and Iris Lacey four blocks. Eva Dittmar was 23-of-23 on serves.

Meadowbrook 25, 25, 25, Coshocton 19, 16, 19: Katie Stoney and Addy Sichina combined for 21 kills for the unbeaten Colts (5-0), who remained atop the MVL-Small School Division.

Stoney finished with 11 kills, Sichina added 10 kills, Taylor Sichina had nine kills, Addy Wiggins ran the Meadowbrook offense with 31 assists, and the defense was led by Journey Nicola with 23 digs, Avery Black with 10 and Kara Launder with nine.

Lacey Guthrie tallied nine kills and 10 assists for Coshocton (3-5, 2-3), while Jaeli Tiedt had two aces and 16 digs and Lilah Laaper and Sophia McFadden two blocks.

Indian Valley 23, 25, 25, 25, Ridgewood 25, 18, 5, 17: Skylar Wright tallied seven kills with three aces and 15 digs for the Generals, who fell to 2-7 with an Inter-Valley Conference-South Division loss.

Megan Mainwaring had eight kills, Brynn Waters 12 assists and Anyssa Cutlip seven kills with two aces and nine digs for Ridgewood. Ayanna Masters added five kills.

Conotton Valley 21, 19, 25, 25, 15, Buckeye Trail 25, 25, 20, 22, 12: Anna McVicker and Vayda Neuhart hit 18 kills apiece and combined for 13 points, but the Warriors couldn't finish off the Rockets in IVC play.

Kayla Hinkle went 22-of-22 serving with 12 points and six kills, Ally Carpenter made 20 digs with eight kills and 13-of-13 serving, Grace Shipe had 24 assists, along with 20-of-21 serving and 12 points, McVicker also passed out 19 assists with 16 digs and 16-of-16 serving, and Sydney Patterson had 19 digs with 16-of-17 serving to lead Trail.

Girls Golf

Marietta 212, Philo 224: Sydney Wharff was medalist with 37 to lead the Tigers to a nonleague win at Fuller's Fairways.

Brianna Mortimer's 40 paced Philo; Grace Hargraves added 54 and Taylor Winland 64.

Girls Tennis

Cambridge 3, Claymont 2: Second doubles Reese Antill & Magali Garcia picked the final match victory over the Mustangs' Maddie Dean & Brinley Poland, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4, to help secure the win for the Lady Cats.

Cambridge's No. 1 singles Miranda Cole beat Clair Carlisle 6-0, 6-0 and No. 2 singles Emma Krise picked up another win 6-4, 6-1 over Brittanie Connor.

Cambridge’s No. 3 singles Madi Peebles in her first varsity singles match lost 6-0, 6-0 to Malaika Douglas, while No. 1 doubles Selina Garcia & Kilee Jeffery lost 2-6, 5-7 to Maegan Douglas & Danika Ledford.

Cross Country

Tri-Valley runs at Westerville North: Taylor Crozier finished ninth overall in 20:14 and Erin Hogue was 37th for the Scottie girls, who were 13th in the mostly Division I Invitational on Saturday.

The boys were 15th and led by Dalton Crozier in 31st (17.09), Alex Hogue in 108th (18.57) and William Dearing in 114th (19.12).
