TUESDAY PREP ROUNDUP: St. Anthony baseball cruises past Neoga; Altamont downs South Central

Sep. 21—EFFINGHAM — The St. Anthony Bulldogs defeated the Neoga Indians on Tuesday, 12-2.

Beau Adams went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and one RBI. Aiden Lauritzen went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Brock Fearday went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs and four RBIs. Connor Roepke went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Vincent Vogel went 1-for-1 with one run. Joseph Tegeler went 1-for-1. Sam Link went 2-for-4 with one double and three RBIs. Will Fearday went 2-for-3 with one run and Joey Trupiano went 1-for-1 with one run.

Lauritzen and Link pitched for St. Anthony (17-0). Lauritzen allowed one hit and one walk to four strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings; Link allowed three hits, two runs and two walks to three strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings.

As for Neoga (3-12), Keaton Lacy went 2-for-3. Trey Sheehan went 1-for-3 and Matt Propst went 1-for-2 with one home run, one run and one RBI.

Altamont 8, Farina (South Central) 3

The Altamont Indians defeated the South Central Cougars on Tuesday, 8-3.

Dillan Elam went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Nathan Stuemke went 3-for-4 with one double, one run and three RBIs. Keegan Schultz went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Kaidyn Miller went 1-for-3 with one home run, one run and one RBI. Riley Berg went 1-for-3 with one run and Kaden Davis went 2-for-2 with one run.

Clayton Arnold pitched for Altamont (13-4). He allowed 13 hits, three runs and four strikeouts over seven innings.

As for South Central (12-6), Trevan Sidwell went 3-for-4. Colton Smith went 3-for-4 with one double and one run. Maddox Robb went 2-for-4. Colby Bursott went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Hudson Moore went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs and Max Magnus went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Chase Guerrettaz and Luke Shumate pitched for the Cougars. Guerrettaz allowed nine hits, eight runs (two earned) and one walk to four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings; Shuman allowed one hit and two strikeouts over 2/3 of an inning.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 21, Ramsey 6

The Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick Bobcats defeated Ramsey on Tuesday in the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament, 21-6.

Clayton Wojcik had two singles, two doubles and six RBIs. Wyatt Rueff had one double, one home run and four RBIs. AJ Radloff had one single and one RBI. Carson Evans had one single. Ben Askins had one double and two RBIs. Kyle Lamb had one RBI. Blake Mueller had one RBI and Conner Nowitzke had one single and one RBI.

Evans pitched for Beecher City (9-4).

Brownstown/St. Elmo 15, Mulberry Grove 5

The Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers defeated Mulberry Grove on Tuesday in the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament, 15-5.

Adam Atwood went 3-for-4 with one double and three RBIs. Cade Schaub went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Collin Maxey went 1-for-2. Keelan Speagle went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Calin Chandler went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and Lucas Powell went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Dodge Willms pitched for Brownstown (6-11). He allowed five runs, seven hits and two walks to five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.

The St. Anthony Bulldogs defeated the Effingham Flaming Hearts on Tuesday, 9-0.

In singles matches, Emily Kowalke beat Izzy Volpi (6-2, 6-0). Mia Kinkelaar beat Charly Kreke (6-1, 6-3). Liv Hoene beat Kristen Armstrong (6-0, 6-2). Ellie Link defeated Cora Hartmann (6-0, 6-0). Nora Trupiano beat Makenna Duckwitz (6-4, 6-2) and Anna Greene beat Kendyll Schoonover (6-2, 6-0).

In doubles matches, Kinkelaar and Link beat Armstrong and Volpi (6-2, 6-2). Kowalke and Hoene beat Hartmann and Kreke (6-1, 6-1) and Trupiano and Julia Schultz beat Duckwitz and Addy Hemrich (6-1, 2-6, 10-4).

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes defeated Olney (Richland County) on Tuesday, 9-0.

The Newton Lady Eagles defeated Charleston on Tuesday, 8-1.

In singles matches, Charlotte Schackmann beat Christine Pschirrer (6-0, 6-1). Paige Klingler fell to Kailee Gough (1-6, 6-2, 7-10). Jailyn Hall beat Mia Carcasi (6-1, 6-1). Abby Menke beat Greta Larson (6-2, 6-0). Darci Marble beat Raylin Cox (6-1, 6-1) and Rhianna Carter defeated Ella Kenner (6-3, 6-4).

Max Seachrist shot a final round of 39. Jude Traub shot a 42. Evan Pryor shot a 43. Leo Wyckoff shot a 45. Brody Boehm shot a 47 and Rayden Schneider shot a 48.

Cannon Bockhorn added a 38 and Blayne Pals shot a 46.

Teutopolis 165, Robinson 184

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes defeated Robinson on Tuesday at Effingham Country Club, 165-184.

Coen Pennington and Isaac Weber each shot final rounds of 39. Ethan Thoele shot a 43. Hayden Jansen shot a 44. Brody Thoele and Noah Koester each shot 47s and Kole Ohnesorge, Owen Heuerman, Landyn Thoele and Hayden Tebbe each shot 51s.

Mattoon Triangular

The Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Hatchets finished second at a triangular match with Mattoon and Casey-Westfield on Tuesday at Meadowview Golf Course.

Windsor/Stew-Stras shot a team score of 166. Mattoon shot a 155 and Casey-Westfield shot a 188.

Nathaniel Gracey shot a 39. Jacob Vonderheide and Briar Smith each shot a 42. Rylan Rincker shot a 43. Clayton Carey shot a 49 and Ross McCormick shot a 53.

GIRLS GOLF

Effingham, Teutopolis at Effingham Country Club

The Effingham Flaming Hearts and Teutopolis Lady Shoes competed against Mt. Zion, Taylorville and Pana at Effingham Country Club on Tuesday.

Effingham shot a team score of 171 and Teutopolis shot a 204.

Ella Tuman led the Flaming Hearts with a final round of 39. Elena Niebrugge shot a 42. Makenna Mayhood shot a 43. Natalie Armstrong shot a 47. Grace Harper shot a 53 and Mya Harvey shot a 54.

Halle Bushue led the Lady Shoes with a 44. Hildi Niemerg shot a 51. Brileigh Bloemer shot a 54. Brooke Thoele shot a 55. Sophia Martin shot a 60 and Olivia Wermert shot a 62.

GOLF

Altamont, Louisville (North Clay) at St. Elmo Golf Club

Altamont and North Clay competed against Flora and Pana at St. Elmo Golf Club on Tuesday.

For North Clay, on the boys' side, Riley Poe shot a 45 and Jacob Arnold shot a 53 and on the girls' side, Kennedy Jones shot a 50 and Alaina Worland shot a 73.

As for Altamont, no results were provided.

The St. Anthony Bulldogs defeated the St. Elmo/Brownstown Eagles in two sets on Tuesday.

St. Anthony won the first set 25-13 and the second 25-14.

Altamont lost the first set 20-25, won the second 25-17 and won the third 25-20.

The Cumberland Lady Pirates beat Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond in two sets on Tuesday.

Cumberland (8-12, 2-3 Lincoln Prairie Conference) lost the first set 17-25, won the second 25-13 and won the third 25-18.

Charlee Thornton had three kills, six blocks, two digs and one assist. McKenzie Matteson had three kills and four digs. Hannah Shoemaker had three kills, three blocks and four digs. The Effingham Flaming Hearts fell to Mahomet-Seymour on Tuesday, 8-0.

Effingham fell to 10-3 and 3-2 in the Apollo Conference with the loss.

Altamont 5, Effingham (St. Anthony) 0

The Altamont Indians defeated the St. Anthony Bulldogs on Tuesday, 5-0.

Jack Lowry had two goals and one assist and Cooper Pals, Javian Schlanser and Taylen Parker each had one goal for Altamont (7-4).

St. Anthony fell to 1-6 with the loss.

Newton 10, Robinson 2

The Newton Eagles defeated Robinson on Tuesday, 10-2.

Newton improved to 8-2 and 4-0 in the Little Illini Conference with the win.
