TreVeyon Henderson picks up pair of weekly Big Ten football honors
After a record-breaking performance against Tulsa, Ohio State freshman running back TreVeyon Henderson has been named to a couple of Big Ten football weekly honors. The Hopewell, Virginia native was not only named the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week, but also shared Offensive Player of the Week honors with Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne.
To say that Henderson had a breakout performance would be an understatement. All Henderson did was break Archie Griffin’s 49-year record for the most single-game rushing yards by a freshman by racking up 277 yards and three touchdowns. It could be the beginning of a very distinguished career on the Banks of the Olentangy.

For Ohio State, Henderson winning the Freshman of the Week Award continues the trend in 2021. The Buckeyes have taken home the honor each of the first three weeks they’ve played. Quarterback C.J. Stroud received notoriety the last two weeks.
