Traffic Stop Turns into Epic Proposal in Texas

Stop, in the name of love!

Amanda Radican was simply trying to help her boyfriend—he’d called from work and said he forgot his phone at home—when she saw flashing lights in her rearview mirror on State Highway 114 in Grapevine, Texas.

Confused, Radican pulled over and rolled down her window. Grapevine police officer Chad Hale informed her that not only was she going 52 mph in a 45 mph zone, but that there was also a warrant out her car. He asked her to get out of the car so they could clear things up. She didn’t realize that her boyfriend, Stephen Smith, was tracking her every move via the Find My iPhone app, and that Hale, who was recording the interaction with his body cam, was in on the proposal setup of a lifetime.

Crying and visibly shaking, a shocked Radican did what she was told. As she was explaining to the officer that her boyfriend was a dispatcher for the Grapevine Police Department, and that she on his way there to bring him his phone, another squad car pulled up behind her. As Radican struggled to comprehend the situation, Smith snuck out of the second car and knelt down on one knee beside her.

“You are wanted...” he announced, pulling out a ring. “By me,” he added, dramatically. It took a little while for the shock to wear off, but she eventually gave him the “yes” he was after.

“The entire traffic stop lasted under five minutes, but the memory will last an eternity,” Grapevine Police Department wrote alongside the video of the proposal on their Facebook page. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
