Tracking the Tigers: Where Auburn’s commits will play this week

It is time for another week of high school football and once again most of Auburn’s commits will be taking the field.

With the addition of offensive lineman DeAndre Carter to the recruiting class, Auburn now boasts 18 commits, 17 of whom who were in action this week.

The only exception is Malcolm Simmons, who is enjoying a bye after leading Jonesboro High School to a 2-1 start to the season. Quarterback commit Walker White and Little Rock Christian played on Thursday night, picking up a 42-14 victory to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Here is a look at where the rest of Auburn’s commits will be playing this week.

WR Perry Thompson

Matchup: Foley (2-0) @ Mary G. Montgomery (2-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

It’s a battle of unbeaten’s Friday night and Thompson and Foley’s high-powered offense will face their toughest test yet in a defense that has allowed just seven points in two games.

LB Demarcus Riddick

Matchup: Briarwood Christian (0-2) @ Chilton County (1-1)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Chilton Conutry is coming off a win and is looking to keep the momentum going against an 0-2 Briarwood Christian team that has scored six points this season.

OT DeAndre Carter

Matchup: Kahuku (4-0) @ Mater Dei (3-0)

Game Info: Saturday, Sept. 9, 9 p.m. CT

Mater Dei is hosting a Kahuku team that is averaging 37.8 points per game and is looking to make a statement.

LB Joseph Phillips

Matchup: Booker T. Washington (1-1) @ Montgomery Catholic (2-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Phillips is looking to lead Booker T. Washington to its first conference win of the season but it won’t be easy as Montgomery Catholic has outscored its opponents 70-12 through two games.

CB Jalyn Crawford

Matchup: North Gwinnett (2-1) @ Parkview (2-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m. CT

Crawford and Parkview will look to keep their perfect start to the season going after enjoying their bye last week.

RB J'Marion Burnette

Matchup: Dale County (1-1) @ Andalusia (2-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Andalusia has had a great start to the season and should be able to keep it up against a Dale County team that allowed 62 points last week.

CB A'Mon Lane

Matchup: Moody (2-0) @ Alexandria (0-2)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Moody and Lane will be looking to keep their perfect record intact against a struggling Alexandria team.

CB Jayden Lewis

Matchup: Munford (0-1) @ Anniston (1-1)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Lewis and the rest of the Bulldogs are looking to bounce back from their tough loss to Burnette and Andalusia last week.

TE Martavious Collins

Matchup: South Pittsburg (3-0) @ Sequatchie County (3-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 8 p.m. CT

South Pittsburg has had a phenomenal start to the season, averaging 49.3 points per game but Sequatchie County is their toughest challenge yet.

CB Jalewis Solomon

Matchup: Schley County (2-0) @ Bleckley County (2-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m. CT

Simmons has led Schley County to two blow-out wins while Bleckley County has won two hard-fought games.

DL Malik Blocton

Matchup: Pike Road (0-2) @ Wetumpka (0-2)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Both teams are looking for their first win of the season and should be playing desperately.

S Kensley Faustin

Matchup: Naples (2-0) @ Immokalee (1-1)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 6 p.m. CT

Faustin and Naples have won both of their games by double-digits while Immokalee was able to scratch out a win in overtime to start the season.

DL Dimitry Nicolas

Matchup: Norland (2-0) @ Southridge (2-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m. CT

Norland will look to pick up another big win after dominating 66-0 last week. Nicolas is still looking to have a breakout game as a senior.

DL TJ Lindsey

Matchup: IMG Academy (2-0) @ Ben Davis (3-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, p.m. CT

Lindsey and IMG are looking to return to action after missing last week due to travel issues. This week they will be heading to Indianapolis to take on 3-0 Ben Davis that has scored 51 points per game.

WR Bryce Cain

Matchup: Davidson (1-0) @ Baker (2-0)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Both of these offenses have shown the ability to score the ball at will and this game could quickly become a shootout. Cain could have another huge game for Baker.

LB D'Angelo Barber

Matchup: Clay-Chalkville (2-0) @ Pell City (0-2)

Game Info: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. CT

Barber and Clay-Chalkville’s defense has allowed just three points this season and could be in another strong performance against Pell City.
