Top TE prospect Brock Bowers out after ankle surgery

The early consensus top tight end prospect for the 2024 NFL draft, Georgia’s Brock Bowers, will be out of action for some time. On Monday, Bowers had surgery to repair a high ankle sprain.

Bowers had a procedure known as “TightRope” performed to fix the ankle. TightRope threads together the separated area instead of using screws in traditional surgery. The recovery time is shortened to about a typical 4-to-6 weeks. If that timeline holds, Bowers could be back for the end of the SEC schedule for the top-ranked Bulldogs.

This is the same procedure Tua Tagovailoa had during his time at Alabama. Other Georgia players have also had the TightRope, including offensive tackle prospect Amarius Mims, who remains out as he recovers.

Bowers is the No. 9 overall prospect in my latest big board.
