Top performers from South Jersey girls basketball over first week of January

South Jersey girls' basketball rang in the new year with a bang.

Here's a look at some of the best performances over the first week of January.

Records and stats are through Sunday's games.

Burlington County League

Hadley Rodriguez, Pennsauken. Powering Pennsauken to a pair of wins to start the new year, the junior guard delivered 10 and 17 points in victories over Pemberton and Delran, respectively. She’s hit double-figures in points in four of eight games this season for a 9.75 scoring average.

Madeline Wylie, Bordentown. The junior posted a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds in a 39-31 victory over Palmyra and had 17 points in a 51-8 triumph over Riverside. She’s averaging 13.8 points per game for the Scotties, who ran their unbeaten streak to nine.

Julia Zimmermann, Holy Cross. The junior guard knocked down a career-high 21 points to spark the Lancers’ 50-45 victory over Bishop Eustace in the South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament. Zimmermann finished the week with 40 points and nine assists as Holy Cross picked up three wins.

Colonial Conference

Ashley Flynn, Audubon. The junior filled up the stat sheet in a 43-35 win over Gloucester with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and four steals. She also contributed eight points in a 45-27 victory against Lindenwold as the Green Wave remained unbeaten at 8-0.

Alli Kamulda, Haddon Township. The junior collected 34 points and seven rebounds as the Hawks soared to wins over Sterling and West Deptford. Kamulda’s 20-point effort against the Eagles was a career high.

Angelina Zagone, Gateway. The senior continued her torrid start to the season with 72 points and 25 rebounds, powering the Gators to three wins last week. She scored 20 of her team’s 25 points in a triumph over Collingswood before pumping in 25 and 27 points in victories over Paulsboro and Salem as Gateway improved to 7-1 on the season.

Olympic Conference

Julia Lewis, Cherry Hill West. The junior knocked down 13-of-14 foul shots en route to a career-high 22 points as the Lions roared past Cherokee, 42-33. She also added double-digit scoring performances in victories over rival Cherry Hill East and Seneca.

Rima Takla, Moorestown. The junior guard stuffed the stat sheet with 33 points, 16 rebounds, 12 assists and 12 steals as the Quakers swept the week with wins over Camden Catholic, Winslow and Kingsway. Takla tied a season-high with 13 points in a SJIBT victory against Kingsway.

Taylor Tchou, Shawnee. Knocking down 35 points, the senior guard helped guide Shawnee to a pair of wins to start off 2024. She tallied a season-high 19 points in a victory over Camden Tech and delivered 16 points, five rebounds and three steals in a 41-36 victory over Westampton Tech in the SJIBT.

Tri-County Conference

Asha Gray, Timber Creek. A difference maker in the paint, the junior posted 32 points, 19 rebounds and eight steals to help electrify the Chargers’ 3-0 week. She had nine points and nine rebounds in a 42-40 triumph over Bishop Eustace.

Alivia Mauz, Williamstown. The junior reached double-digit points in all three games last week, including 19 in a win over Camden Catholic and 17 in a Royal Division win over Washington Township. She owns a 15.1 scoring average through nine games.

Ana Pellecchia, Clearview. One of South Jersey’s top scorers, the senior produced two more 20-plus point games last week in wins over Eastern and Gloucester County Tech. She finished with 47 points, 10 rebounds and 13 steals for the week. Pellecchia owns a 23.0 scoring average over seven games. On Monday, she established school records for points in a game (43) and three-point baskets (eight) in a win over Washington Township.

Cape-Atlantic League

Averie Harding, Egg Harbor Township. The junior posted 46 points and 16 rebounds combined in victories over Millville and Cedar Creek. Her 27-point effort against the Pirates was a career high and she takes a 15.1 scoring average into the second week of January.

Kiley Kozlowski, Hammonton. The junior guard converted four triples and finished with 23 points in a 55-50 win over Vineland. She has averaged 14 points over the Blue Devils’ four-game winning streak.

Lola McGonigle, Wildwood Catholic. The freshman knocked down a career-high 30 points in a 56-47 win over Absegami. She added eight points and five assists two days later in a 44-41 victory against Middle Township. For the season, McGonigle has converted 20 baskets from beyond the arc and owns a 14.9 scoring average.
