Top Greater Taunton H.S. sports performers for April 15-21

Another week of the spring high school sports season is upon on in the Greater Taunton area.

Last week, Dighton-Rehoboth boys volleyball continued one of their best starts to a season in years while Taunton baseball suffered its first loss to rivals Franklin in a state title rematch but bounced back against Mansfield. A Taunton girls lacrosse player hit a career milestone in a local showdown against Dighton-Rehoboth while Taunton boys lacrosse earned its first Hockomock win since returning to varsity status, Taunton and Dighton-Rehoboth softball continued their strong starts and both Bridgewater-Raynham and Bristol-Plymouth scored some impressive wins.

Here's a look at all of the stats, scores and highlights from the third week of April.

Saturday

Baseball

Owen King led the way at the plate for Bridgewater-Raynham (3-4, 0-1 SEC), going 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI as the Trojans fell 12-8 to Holliston on the road in non-league action. Tyler Cattoggio went 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs while Connor Nichols went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI. Vincent Tavares started and was a no decision for B-R, going 2⅔ innings giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out four.

Boys Lacrosse

Colin Carfagna scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game winner with 1:23 left, as Bridgewater-Raynham (5-2) beat Wellesley 6-5 at Natick High School to claim third place in the Coaches Cup. Jayson Kelleher and Nikos Triantafillou led the way for the Trojans with a pair of goals and an assist each while Brendan Rosher and Colton Fitzsimmons each recorded a pair of assists. Goalie Shaun LaCivita made 12 saves in net for B-R.

Friday

Baseball

Zach Branco, Kyle Weldon and Devin Foley each had a hit as Bristol-Plymouth (2-4, 2-1 MAC) fell 4-0 to Nauset on the road in non-league action. Brayden Alves took the loss for the Craftsmen, going all six innings giving up four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three.

Jordan Castro, Ben Miller, Lucas LeTourneau and Charlie Roth each had a hit as Dighton-Rehoboth (4-2, 2-1 SCC) fell 5-0 to Somerset Berkley at home in SCC action. Cole Viveiros took the loss for the Falcons, going all seven innings giving up five runs on seven hits and a pair of walks while striking out six.

Softball

Taylor Reid went 1-for-3 with a run as Bridgewater-Raynham (3-3) fell 12-1 to King Philip on the road in non-league action. Maddie Delano took the loss for the Trojans, going six innings giving up 12 runs (seven earned) on 13 hits and six walks while striking out one and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Ally Bastis led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (5-1, 2-1 SCC), going 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a run as the Falcons beat Somerset Berkley 15-3 in six innings at home in SCC action. Haleigh Kelley went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs while Lucy Latour went 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs, Giselle Pacheco went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI, Cam Cloonan went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs and Hannah Carey went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs. Edy Latour earned the win for D-R, going all six innings giving up three unearned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six and also went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI at the plate.

Boys Lacrosse

Sam Bastis scored his first varsity goal as Dighton-Rehoboth (2-5, 1-2 SCC) fell 18-2 to Fairhaven on the road in SCC action.

Girls Lacrosse

Skyla Scott had a hattrick, including the eventual game winner from a free position, as Dighton-Rehoboth (3-1, 1-1 SCC) beat Fairhaven 10-9 at home in SCC action. Karina Bosco led the way for the Falcons with four goals, an assist and seven draws while Mara Levesque had a hattrick and an assist, Gia Papa had three assists and Ainsley Zibrida had an assist and a draw. Phoebe Braga made nine saves in net for D-R.

Thursday

Baseball

Shamus Barrett led the way at the plate for Bridgewater-Raynham (3-3, 0-1 SEC), going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and three RBIs as the Trojans beat Silver Lake 8-0 at Plymouth North High School in the Brad Martin Baseball Tournament. Bobby Quill went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI while Owen King went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jack Ritchie earned the win after tossing a complete game shutout giving up five hits and a pair of walks while striking out eight.

Boys Lacrosse

Colin Carfagna had a hattrick for Bridgewater-Raynham (4-2) but the Trojans fell 14-4 to Winchester in the semi-finals of the Coaches Cup at Natick High School.

Boys Tennis

Ty Perry won first single 6-1, 6-0 while David Anghinetti won second singles 6-0, 6-0, Spencer Jones won third singles 6-0, 6-0 and the duo of David Martel and Alex Verma won first doubles 7-5, 6-1 as Dighton-Rehoboth (2-0, 2-0 SCC) beat Bourne 4-1 on the road in SCC action.

Boys Track and Field

Dmitrius Shearrion has the top finish for Taunton (1-1, 1-1 Hockomock), coming in second in the 100 meter with a time of 0:11.07 while Drew Alves finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 0:16.44 at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational at Foxboro High School.

Malik Washington had the top finish for Bridgewater-Raynham, coming in sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 0:16.4 at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational at Foxboro High School. Amin Abbassi finished seventh in both the discus (130'1", personal best) and javelin (134'3") while Kauan Bento finished seventh in the 100 meter with a time of 0:11.33.

Girls Track and Field

Emersyn DePonte had the top finish for Taunton (0-2, 0-2 Hockomock), coming in fifth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:23.22 at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational at Foxboro High School. Renee Leao finished sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 0:17.14 while Ciara Pina finished eighth in the high jump with a personal best height of 4'10".

Camden Strandberg had the top finish for Bridgewater-Raynham, coming in fourth in the high jump with a height of 5' while Brenna Woodbury finished sixth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:25.65 at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational at Foxboro High School.

Zoey Onuegbu had the top finish for Bristol-Plymouth, coming in 19th in the 100 meter with a time of 0:13.24 at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational at Foxboro High School. Mary McDonald finished 274th overall with a personal best time of 0:28.53.

Wednesday

Baseball

Caden Lindskog led the way at the plate for Taunton (6-2, 4-1 Hockomock), going 2-for-3 with a triple, run and an RBI as the Tigers beat Xaverian 7-1 at home in non-league action. Johnny Escobalez went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Andrew Cali and Cam Dorr both went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Jack Cali earned the win after going all seven inning giving up a run on four hits while striking out two.

Kyle Weldon and Jake LaPlante led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (2-3, 2-1 MAC), as both went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Blue Hills 9-3 on the road in MAC action. Brayden Alves went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI while Zach Branco went 1-for-3 with a run and Jayden Cruz went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Devin Foley earned the win after going 4⅔ innings giving up three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four before Colton Carvalho tossed the final 2⅓ shutout innings walking one and striking out three.

Charlie Roth led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (4-1, 2-0 SCC), going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI as the Falcons beat Fairhaven 6-1 at home in SCC action. Lucas LeTourneau went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs while Maddex Mendoza went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Will LaBrie earned the win after going six innings giving up a run on four hits and two walks while striking out nine before Cole Viveiros tossed the final shutout inning striking out one.

Softball

Aniyah Bailey led the way at the plate for Taunton (6-0, 5-0 Hockomock), going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs on a pair of triples and a walk-off single as the Tigers beat Westfield 4-3 at home in eight innings of non-league action. Madison Crowley went 1-for-2 with a run while Bella Bourque went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Sam Lincoln earned the win after going all eight innings giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out 11.

Maddie Delano led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (3-2), going 2-for-2 at the plate while tossing four innings giving up eight runs on five hits and seven walks while striking out five as the Trojans fell 13-0 to Bishop Feehan in five innings on the road in non-league action.

Jessica Slavick led the way for Bristol-Plymouth (4-1, 2-0 MAC), going 3-for-5 with four runs and five RBIs while also tossing two shutout innings in relief giving up a hit while striking out two as the Craftsmen beat Nauset 25-1 in five innings at home in non-league action. Aubrey Mabrouk earned the win after going three innings giving up a run on three hits while striking out four and went 3-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Isabella Torres went 2-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBIs while Bree Aldrich went 1-for-4 with three runs and an RBI and Tayla Duarte went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and three RBIs.

Lucy Latour led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (4-1, 1-1 SCC), going 4-for-5 with three runs and a pair of RBIs as the Falcons beat Fairhaven 12-2 on the road in SCC action. Haleigh Kelley went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs while Cam Cloonan went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI and Caleigh Cloonan went 2-for-4 with a run. Hannah Carey earned the win after going four innings giving up two unearned runs on a hit and four walks while striking out two before Kylie Hillier tossed the final three shutout innings giving up a walk while striking out one.

Boys Lacrosse

Jaiden Solitro led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (2-4, 1-1 SCC) with nine goals and four draws as the Falcons beat Greater New Bedford 16-10 on the road in SCC action. Julian Bowers had four goals, an assist and a pair of draws while Jack Swan had a hattrick, a pair of assists and 14 draws.

Girls Lacrosse

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (1-5, 1-0 SEC) with a pair of goals and an assist as the Trojans fell 10-9 to Quincy on the road in non-league action. Grace LaRose had a pair of goals while Emily Long had a goal and an assist, Sydney O’Donnell, Erin Rennie and Lexi White all found the back of the net and Sam Hayward recorded an assist.

Baseball

Owen King led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (2-3, 0-1 SEC), going 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate and four innings on the mound giving up three runs (two earned) on a hit and a walk while striking out five 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Trojans fell 5-1 to Dartmouth on the road in non-league action. Bobby Quill went 0-for-3 with a run off a walk.

Ben Miller led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (3-1, 1-0 SCC), going 5 ⅓ innings giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and seven walks while striking out nine and went 1-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs as the Falcons beat Oliver Ames 10-3 at home in non-league action. Maddex Mendoza went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Lucas LeTourneau went 2-of-4 with a pair of RBIs, Jordan Castro went 1-for-2 with a run and three RBIs and Charlie Roth went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and tossed the remaining 1 ⅔ shutout innings walking two while striking out one.

Softball

Madison Crowley led the way for Taunton (5-0, 5-0 Hockomock), going 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs as the Tigers beat Mansfield 14-0 in five innings on the road in Hockomock action. Sam Lincoln and Cate Larson combined for a no-hitter, with Lincoln going two innings striking out all six batters she faced while Larson tossed the final three innings striking out a pair. Mia Torres went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs while Brooke Aldrich went 1-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs and Bella Bourque went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.

Brady Morin earned the win for the hosts, going all seven innings giving up a run on seven hits and a walk while striking out one.

Kyle Weldon led the way for Bristol-Plymouth (1-3, 1-1 Mayflower Athletic Conference), going six innings giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out four and 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs and an RBI as the Craftsmen beat Old Colony 11-2 at home in MAC action. Joe Benevides went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and a run while Cam Wilbur went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run, Colby Robertson went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs and Jake LaPlante went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Cam Cruz tossed a shutout inning in relief giving up a hit and a walk.

Bridgewater-Raynham (3-1) beat Greater New Bedford 5-4 on the road in non-league action.

Isabella Torres led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (3-1, 2-0 MAC), going 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Old Colony 22-6 in five innings on the road in MAC action. Sara Norcross went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and four RBIs while Tayla Duarte went 1-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBIs, Bree Aldrich went 0-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs off three walks and Molly Clark went 0-for-1 with three runs and a pair of RBIs on four walks. Aubrey Mabrouk earned the win for B-P, going all five innings giving up six runs (one earned) on nine hits while striking out nine and went 2-for-3 with four RBIs at the plate.

Haleigh Kelley led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (3-0, 0-1 South Coast Conference), going 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI off a solo home run as the Falcons fell 2-1 to Case at home in SCC action. Cam Cloonan and Izzy Moss each had a double while Edy Latour was credited with the loss after going all seven innings giving up a pair of runs on eight hits while striking out seven.
