Top 5 landing spots for Alabama DB Kool-Aid McKinstry in the 2024 NFL draft

The 2023-24 NFL season wrapped up on Sunday night when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. The next major NFL event will take place in about two and half months when the 2024 NFL draft will get underway from Detroit.

The first round is once again likely to be littered with former members of the Alabama Crimson Tide and one name Tide fans will want to watch out for most is cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry.

McKinstry is one of the top defensive back prospects in the draft class and is widely projected as a first-round pick when the draft rolls around in April.

Below is a look at the five most likely destinations for the talented cornerback from Pinson Valley High School.

Kool-Aid would join a secondary in Pittsburgh that is led by former Alabama star Minkah Fitzpatrick and would help secure one side of the field for the Steelers defense.

McKinstry would join a host of former Crimson Tide stars in Philadelphia including former Alabama defensive back Eli Ricks. The Eagles have a void at corner and with Kool-Aid’s upside, he could be a steal for the NFC contenders.

If McKisntry were to fall to the Cowboys he would join fellow Alabama star defensive back Trevon Diggs to form one of the best cornerback duo in the NFL. Diggs is coming off an injury and adding Kool-Aid to the backend of the defense could help the Cowboys take that next step.

Once again Kool-Aid would join a defensive backfield that features a former member of the Crimson Tide. Brian Branch just wrapped up an impressive rookie campaign for the Lions and adding a corner like McKinstry who can play both inside and outside, would give Detroit a young and talented group in the backend.

The 49ers are fresh off their heartbreaking Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs and one area San Fran is likely to target this offseason is at CB2. While it is not likely he will fall this far if the Niners can grab Kool-Aid at the end of the first round, they would perhaps have the steal of day one.
