Tony Bennett on Virginia alumni Malcolm Brogdon and Sam Hauser playing for the Boston Celtics

Even as fans and analysts marveled at the low price the Boston Celtics paid to obtain veteran Indiana Pacers point guard Malcolm Brogdon, the rumbles of concern began whether the Virginia alumnus would be OK accepting a reserve role on the Celtics behind starting point guard Marcus Smart.

Brogdon has since said all of the right things, and even managed to get a vote of approval of his old college coach at Virginia, Tony Bennett, on an episode of the NBC Sports Boston “Celtics Talk” podcast this week.

Host Chris Forsberg chats up Bennett about Brogdon’s fit on the team, as well as what he thinks fellow Virginia alumnus Sam Hauser might be able to give Boston this season in an expanded role.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear the Bennett interview in full.
