Todd McShay’s new mock draft has Cardinals trading back, landing CB, WR

Because of trades the Arizona Cardinal have made, they do not have a draft pick in the third or fourth rounds this year. However, that would change if they do what ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay projects in his latest mock draft.

The Cardinals, who have the 16th pick, could potentially trade back a few selections and pick up an extra selection in later rounds.

This mock draft goes two rounds.

See what McShay has the Cardinals doing.

Trade!

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The trade the Cardinals make is with the Miami Dolphins, who have the 18th pick, two after the Cardinals. In this scenario, they want USC offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker. McShay suggests the Cardinals would get the Dolphins' third-round pick to move back two spots, but could also net a fifth-rounder this year and a pick in the fourth round next year.

Pick No. 18: Virginia Tech CB Caleb Farley

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Farley's stock might be down because of recent back surgery, although he is expected to be fine by camp.

Patrick Peterson is off to Minnesota, both starting outside corners -- Malcolm Butler and Robert Alford -- signed one-year deals and Byron Murphy Jr. is mainly a nickelback. Farley had a back procedure at the end of March, and though it isn't expected to impact his training camp availability, it's a concern. Still, he is the best cover corner in the class and fits what the Cardinals are looking for on the outside.

As McShay mentions, he believes Farley is the best cover guy in the draft class. If his medicals check out, being able to land him and an extra third-round pick would be perfect.

Pick No. 49: Purdue WR Rondale Moore

Moore is fast. The Cardinals have uncertainty at receiver after this season. Christian Kirk is in the last year of his contract. A.J. Green is signed for only one season. His explosiveness would be a welcome addition and is what they have hoped Andy Isabella could be. Listen to the latest from Cards Wire's Jess Root on his podcast, Rise Up, See Red.
