Titans go OT, WR, DT, EDGE in PFN’s three-round mock draft
The Tennessee Titans are set to have four picks in the first three rounds of the 2021 NFL draft, with a second selection projected to come in the third round as a compensatory pick.
What the Titans do with those picks remains to be seen, but Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings sees Tennessee going offensive tackle, wide receiver, defensive tackle and EDGE in those spots.
Before we analyze this particular route, let’s see who the Titans take where in Cummings’ mock draft:
22. Teven Jenkins | OT | Oklahoma State
53. Rondale Moore | WR | Purdue
85. Osa Odighizuwa | DT | UCLA
100. Shaka Toney | EDGE | Penn State
Chances are the Titans won’t be going with an offensive tackle in the first round for multiple reasons.
For starters, the team spent a first-round pick on an offensive tackle in 2020 by drafting Isaiah Wilson, who currently looks like a bust. Also, the team has Dennis Kelly under contract for two more seasons and has bigger needs to address on both sides of the ball early on in the upcoming draft.
One of those needs is at EDGE, where the Titans should be focusing on in free agency first and foremost, and then in the draft. Taking an EDGE or another position of need on defense is much more likely in the first round.
The other two picks, Moore and Odighizuwa, are logical selections.
The Titans need to add depth at wide receiver even if Corey Davis returns, and the team has a need upfront, and multiple if DaQuan Jones leaves in free agency.
We’d also like to see Tennessee address the cornerback position, which has question marks for 2021 and beyond. While the Titans don’t necessarily need a starter right away at that position, it would be wise to start looking ahead thanks to the uncertain futures of Adoree’ Jackson and Malcolm Butler.
