Titans, Abraham will come down to 'business'
The Tennessee Titans still have some interest in free agent defensive end John Abraham.
The question now apparently comes down to what Abraham is willing to accept and what the Titans are willing to give both in terms of dollars and playing time. Titans coach Mike Munchak spoke about Abraham after Friday's rookie mini-camp.
“We're looking. We talked to him and spent some time with him, looking that what we want, what he wants, what kind of fit it could be. So we've just been talking to him. He obviously hasn't made a decision. I don't know how quickly he plans on making a decision,” Munchak said via TitanInsider.com. “I don't think there's any big hurry there. It's a business thing, but we've talked to him, and we're talking to him, and we know what kind of player he is and has been. He's still productive and he's gonna be playing in this league. We all know that, it's just a matter of where it's gonna be.”
The "business thing" with Abraham, who had 10 sacks for the Falcons last year, is obviously whether or not the two sides can come to an agreement on a salary. But Abraham, 35, who had 10 sacks for the Atlanta Falcons last year, might still view himself as more than just a situational rusher.
The Titans have starting ends in Derrick Morgan and Kamerion Wimbley and believe both can be more productive than last year when they combined for 12.5 sacks. Still, Abraham would be a nice way for them to hedge their bet if something can be agreed upon.
