How Joe Burrow's season-ending injury played out, from a deleted video to an investigation

The Cincinnati Bengals' season seemed to change in an instant Thursday night after Joe Burrow left the primetime Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens with a wrist injury. Backup quarterback Jake Browning took Burrow's place, and the Bengals lost 34-20.

Burrow arrived to Baltimore on Wednesday wearing some kind of device on his right hand, according to social media posts from the Bengals, which the team later deleted. The franchise quarterback was not listed on the Bengals' injury report this week, resulting in an NFL investigation.

Things happened quickly during Thursday's game. Here's a timeline to get you caught up on Burrow's wrist injury and where the situation currently stands.

Wednesday evening: Burrow arrives to Baltimore wearing device on right hand

The Bengals posted a photo and video on social media Wednesday evening of players arriving in Baltimore. Burrow appeared to be wearing a fingerless, soft black sleeve on his right hand, sending some Cincinnati fans into a panic.

The Bengals deleted the posts that same night.

TNF 2nd quarter: Burrow injures wrist

It appeared to be a second-quarter hit from Ravens' Jadeveon Clowney that injured Burrow's wrist. The quarterback then grimaced as he squeezed his hand after throwing a touchdown pass to Joe Mixon.

Burrow was evaluated in the medical tent after the touchdown pass. He tried to throw on the sideline, but couldn't, and appeared to wince in pain.

The 26-year-old then went to the locker room. Backup quarterback Jake Browning entered the game in his place.

Burrow was examined in the medical tent after the touchdown pass, and then went to the locker room.

TNF 3rd quarter: Burrow ruled out of game

The Bengals initially said Burrow was questionable to return with a wrist injury, but he was later ruled out.

Burrow returned from the locker room to the sideline during halftime.

Postgame: Taylor thinks Burrow sprained his wrist

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor didn't make Burrow available to reporters after the game, but he said it looks like the QB sprained his wrist.

"It looked like he sprained his wrist," Taylor said. "He fell on it early in the game and then felt it on the touchdown pass."

When asked if Taylor thinks Burrow will be able to return this season, he replied: "I have no idea. All the information I have is two seconds worth and then we went to go try to fight to win the game."

In terms of whether Burrow was dealing with an injury prior to the game, Taylor said he was "not aware" of any injury. Wide receiver Tyler Boyd also said he wasn't aware of Burrow dealing with anything outside of ordinary soreness, which most NFL players are feeling at this point in the season.

Friday morning: NFL reportedly investigating why Burrow was left off injury report

The NFL is investigating why the Bengals did not list Burrow on their injury report ahead of Thursday's game, ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter posted on X Friday.

The NFL routinely looks into matters of compliance with its injury report policy, Schefter said. Teams can be fined or even lose a draft pick if they violate the policy.

The Enquirer reached out to the Bengals for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.

Friday afternoon: Burrow out for the season with torn ligament

Burrow is expected to miss the rest of the season after tearing a ligament in his right wrist, Taylor announced in a press conference Friday afternoon. Burrow's injury will likely require surgery, Taylor said.

This report will be updated.
