Artesia's Jarren Wadkins wins Current-Argus Prep Hero Award for second time this season

Artesia High School basketball senior guard Jarren Wadkins is the winner of the Carlsbad Current-Argus Prep Hero of the Week.

He is a two-time winner of the award and he claimed this week’s prize with 53% of the 5,212 votes cast.

Wadkins scored 16 points against Taos in the opening round of the boys’ 4A state basketball tournament March 9.

Artesia High School girls’ basketball sophomore guard Kailee Padilla finished second with 32% of the 3,168 votes cast.

Nearly 10,000 people voted in this week’s poll.
