All-time College World Series team appearances

Since the College World Series was first played in 1947 there have been countless memorable moments – both uplifting and heartbreaking in CWS play.

The 75th College World Series is set with its eight participants.  As we countdown the days until the College World Series begins, let’s take a quick minute to look at how many times each collegiate baseball program has made the trip to Omaha.

Who has been the most times?

Who are some programs who have made surprise visits?

And who are some powerhouses that somehow haven’t won it all?

Here is the list of all-time appearances by all programs to ever appear in a CWS:

T-74. 1 Appearance

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series once:

Coastal Carolina, Cal-State LA, The Citadel, Colgate, Colorado State, Creighton, Dartmouth, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Indiana State, Iowa, Ithaca, James Madison, Kansas, Kent State, Lousiana-Lafayette, Loyola-Marymount, Michigan State, Missouri State, New Hampshire, New Orleans, Northeastern, Ohio, Oral Roberts, Oregon, Princeton, Rider, Rollins, Rutgers, St. Louis, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Southern Mississippi, Stony Brook, Syracuse, UTRGV, Tufts, UC-Santa Barbara, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series twice:

Browley, BYU, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Southern, Houston, Iowa State, UMASS, New York University, Pepperdine, Springfield, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, UC-Irvine, Wake Forest, Yale

T-52: 3 appearances

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series three times:

Baylor, Duke, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Notre Dame, NC State

T-42: 4 appearances

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series four times:

Boston College, Fresno State, Harvard, Holy Cross, Lafayette (College), Long Beach State, Ohio State, Seton Hall, Texas Tech, Washington State

T-30: 5 appearances

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series five times:

Alabama, UConn, Louisville, Minnesota, Penn State, Southern Illinois, TCU, Tennessee, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Virginia

T-24: 6 Appearances

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series six times:

California, Georgia, Missouri, Ole Miss, St. John’s, Western Michigan

T-20: 7 Appearances

Maine, Oregon State, Rice, Texas A&M, Wichita State

19. 8 appearances

Michigan has qualified for the CWS eight times and won it all twice in 1953 and 1962.

The only program to have qualified for the College World Series exactly 10 times:

Northern Colorado, like you all expected.

T-14: 11 Appearances

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series 11 times:

ArkansasNorth Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina

T-11: 12 Appearances

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series 12 times:

Clemson, Florida, Mississippi State

T-7: 18 Appearances

The following programs have qualified for the College World Series 18 times:

Arizona, Cal-State Fullerton, LSU, Stanford

6: 20 Appearances

Oklahoma State has qualified for the College World Series 20 times but only once (2016) since 2000.

5: 21 Appearances

USC has qualified for the College World Series 21 times and won the title 12 times, the most of any program.

4: 22 Appearances

Arizona State has made the College World Series 22 times and won the tournament five times, most recently in 1981.

3: 23 Appearances

Florida State has made the trip to Omaha 23 times but is yet to hoist the national championship trophy.

2: 25 Appearances

Miami (FL) has been to Omaha 25 times and won the tournament four times, most recently in 2001.

1: 38 Appearances

2022 marks the 75th College World Series all-time and 38th that Texas qualified for.  Literally more than half of the all-time CWS have featured the Longhorns who last won it all in 2005.
